He was seen in an episode of The Three Stooges entitled "Brittle Boneheads". He was poked to death by Moe Howard who then tried to wake him up afterwards, to no avail.[1]

The Springfield Shopper's August 1, 1933 headline was "Curly to Shemp: You're Out!".[2]
