The Brady Bunch

The Brady Bunch is an American sitcom created by Sherwood Schwartz that aired from September 26, 1969, to March 8, 1974, on ABC. The series revolves around a large blended family with six children.

This is a reference to the episode "The Not-So-Ugly Duckling" (1970), where Jan Brady has a make-believe boyfriend named George Glass. However George Cauldron, unlike George Glass, turns out to be a real person and not just a made-up name. 13 286 "Gump Roast" Joe Namath shows up in the Simpsons' backyard to talk to Bart about football; he did the same thing with Bobby in a "Brady Bunch" episode. 15 249 "The Regina Monologues" The first act plot — where Bart happens upon a $1,000 bill and Marge subsequently tells him to advertise for its rightful owner — is inspired by the 1970 episode "The Treasure of Sierra Avenue." 19 412 "Love, Springfieldian Style" The third segment, when introducing the story, Bart mentions The Brady Bunch. 20 431 "How the Test Was Won" Couch gag: The Simpsons as the Bradys. Lisa gets hit in the nose by a football, a reference to one of the sitcom's most iconic scenes in which Marcia Brady gets hit by a football and eventually loses a date with a boy. 20 441 "Coming to Homerica" Couch gag: repeat of LABF02's couch gag. 23 498 "Moe Goes from Rags to Riches" Couch gag: repeat of LABF02's couch gag. 27 591 "The Burns Cage" Milhouse names Miss Brady and Greg in a list of co-star couples who fell in love. 30 660 "D'oh Canada" Couch gag: repeat of LABF02's couch gag.

Picture Comic issue Story name Reference Simpsons Comics #15 A Trip to Simpsons Mountain Bart is correct in that Abe's story incorporated multiple TV references, including The Brady Bunch: At one point, the characters sans Young Abe are dressed in a late 60s-early 70s style ala the Bradys, Young Abe is called Greg, a woman resembling the Bradys' housekeeper Alice appears with a tray of fishsticks and jello, and Lisa-Marie gets hit in the nose by a football ala Marcia Brady. Simpsons Comics #130 Marge the Sellout Homer claimed to be keeping his old TV Guide issues for the crosswords. Marge then looked at one and said that the only clue Homer had filled in was "The Brady (Blank)", and he had filled in the spaces with a drawing of a race car.
