The Springfield Subatomic Supercollider created the black hole. After it roamed freely around Springfield, the Simpson family adopted it and kept it in their basement until it grew so big, from all the food the family were giving it, that it sucked up 742 Evergreen Terrace and then the whole town of Springfield.
