Nuclear Physics Professor
Character Information
Gender:
Male ♂
Status:
Unknown
Hair: White
Occupation: Professor at Springfield University
First appearance: Homer Goes to College

The unnamed Nuclear Physics Professor teaches Nuclear Physics at Springfield University. From his accent, he seems to be of German origin. Homer is required to take training in nuclear physics after inspectors from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission discover that he's dangerously underqualified for his own job and Mr. Burns isn't able to bribe his way out of the situation. Burns is able, however, to pull some strings and get Homer admitted to Springfield University, where he enrolls in Nuclear Physics 101. The Professor has apparently taught the class at least once before Homer takes it, as he says that there are a few new faces in the class and jokingly says, "Out with the old, in with the nucleus." (everyone but Homer got the joke, which is a pun on Nucleus and the phrase "Out with the old, in with the new."). However, he does have a slight bit of unintended clumsiness, as he accidentally dropped his cue cards during class. He also explained that, while not absolutely necessary, it is advised that anyone who does stay take a extended review on the subject. One day, he was explaining about how a Proton Accelerator works, only for Homer to arrogantly blow him off, resulting in him being volunteered by the Professor to make it work, causing a meltdown in the university and resulting in Homer being required to take tutoring courses from Gary, Doug, and Benjamin.
