The Blue-Haired Lawyer, voiced by Dan Castellaneta, is Springfield's most prominent lawyer known for his pasty face (he is sometimes called the “pasty faced lawyer”), blue hair, and nasal New York accent.

Popularity

Blue-Haired Lawyer is the quite possibly the most frequently hired attorney in Springfield. He has been hired for nearly every case featured.

Other Jobs

He also occasionally appears to serve as a prosecutor. In one episode, he worked for Luvum & Burnham. He also works as the Creator's goon in The Simpsons Game.

Similarities to other lawyers in Springfield

Like most attorneys on The Simpsons, Blue-Haired Lawyer serves as both prosecution and defense attorney. A humorous, but subtly inserted, gag referencing this and his success is featured in the episode Cape Feare, where he serves as both a trial and defense lawyer- in the same case.

Differences from other lawyers in Springfield

Unlike Lionel Hutz or Gil, “Blue-Hair” is a competent and accredited, though not necessarily ethical, lawyer. He has served as Burns’ head lawyer, and is known to be Mr. Burns’ best and most cunning lawyer, helping him out with threats of the Power Plant closing down and of Burns losing his money.

Governmental Powers

He is a member of the Springfield Republican Party.

Rivalry with The Simpsons

His clients tend to be antagonists of the Simpsons but there have been exceptions, such as Bart hiring him to get himself emancipated. He apparently gets frustrated with Homer occasionally. He also appeared as a villain in The Simpsons Game.

Creation

Writers Al Jean and Mike Reiss have both stated on the DVD commentaries that the voice is based on McCarthy-era lawyer Roy Cohn, and animator Jim Reardon has said that he is designed to look like character actor Charles Lane.
