Cultural references

  • The episode is the first official crossover between The Simpsons and Family Guy.
  • The name of the episode is a mixture between the two shows, with "The Simpsons" being taken from The Simpsons and "Guy" being taken from Family Guy and added to the end.
  • "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard plays during Peter and Homer's stolen car wash scene.
  • The A113 police car license plate is an old animation in-joke used in animated movies and TV Shows.
  • Fred Flintstone's favorite beer is Budrock, a parody of Budweiser and the naming things with variations of stone and rocks in The Flintstones.
  • Chris's "Alright, alright, alright" is a reference to Matthew McConaughey, with Chris impersonating him.
  • According to the DVD commentary, the musical cues as Peter walks away at the end of his fight with Homer is a homage to Gustav Holst's "The Planets".

  • Peter Griffin's getting a picture of Spider-Man when he was attempting to take a picture of a woman's thong is a reference to a scene in the 2002 Spider-Man film where J. Jonah Jameson bemoans his staff's inability to get a picture of Spider-Man: "If we can get a picture of Julia Roberts in a thong, we can certainly get a picture of this weirdo."
  • Harry Shearer is the only cast member of The Simpson that didn't reprise any of his characters, Lenny was voiced by an imitator.
