Description

Sneed runs a general store and service station near Catfish Lake. Whenever a new customer comes into the store, he tells the legend of General Sherman, a giant catfish that lives in the lake. Sneed also owns a store located near the old Simpson family farm.

History

Homer met Sneed when he bought some bait at the store near Catfish Lake. (Homer and Marge were attending a couples' retreat, but Homer had decided to get in some fishing on the sly.) While Homer was in the store, Sneed told the legend of General Sherman. Homer then resolved to catch the fish, but gave it up after Marge caught him sneaking out to go fishing. However, Homer later caught General Sherman by accident. He actually got him into the boat, but let the fish go after he realized that Marge saw the fish as a symbol of his selfishness. After that, Sneed added Homer's encounter (colorfully exaggerated into a tall tale) to the legend of General Sherman.[1]

Sneed also owns a shop called Sneed's Feed & Seed which is located near the Simpson family farm. When Homer and the family were living on the farm for a time, Homer bought supplies at the store.[2]
