The Oakland Athletics are a current Major League Baseball (MLB) team in Oakland, California.

History

Former player José Canseco guest starred to play for the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant softball team.[1]

Former Dodger Kirk Gibson's walkoff home run against former Athletic closer Dennis Eckersley in game one of the 1988 World Series was once seen on television.[2]

The Oakland Athletics are a baseball team that has been in the National League since their creation in 1901. Even with some name changes, the Oakland Athletics have won nine World Series championships, including three straight from 1972-1974. They also went to the World Series three times from 1988-1990, but only won one World Series championship.
