Pokémon is an animated anime series in that started in Japan and later on was moved to America and is still around today. It is also a large series of video games released by Nintendo and various Pokemon movies have been released. The first few were released in theatres while others afterwards were releaseed straight to DVD. Pokemon has also been referenced a few times on the Simpsons.

- In "Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo" Bart is watching a show called Battling Seizure Robots which is a Japanese show that gives viewers seizures. This is yet a reference to the Pokemon episode "Computer Soldier Porygon" wich gave more than 635 of Japanese children seizures on December 16, 1997.
- In "Bart vs. Lisa vs. the Third Grade" while Bart is taking a test his mind is focused on satellite television and he has a vision everyone in his class is a television character and one classmate is turned into Pikachu.
