Sideshow Mel walks through downtown Springfield, carrying a duffel bag over his shoulder. He approaches Lon's Laundry and starts to go in, but there's a mean-looking dog sitting in front of the door. The dog bares its teeth and growls at Mel, frightening him. The dog then changes its grimace to a goofy dog grin and pants at Mel, and Mel goes into the laundromat.

Bart wins a trip for two with Krusty to France and he dresses up Milhouse to look like he is 18 years old so they both can go away on the holiday.

After his clothes finish in the dryer, Mel unloads them and starts folding them. As he folds, he glances around and notices with some trepidation that the dog who confronted him when he went into the laundromat name=MelPartOneOnTheTown>The Incredibly Stimulating Life of Sideshow Mel Part One: On the Town is outside the front door and giving him a mean look. Mel finishes his folding, then picks up his duffel bag and goes out the back door to avoid the dog.
