Walter Hotenhoffer, born as Augustus Gloop, is a German pharma industrialist.

History

Early life

Hotenhoffer, supposedly then known as Augustus Gloop, won a trip to a chocolate factory where he got sucked up a tube, scarring him for life.[1]

Later years

After Lisa discovers that a desert flower mysteriously makes typically combative creatures get along, Homer secretly tests the flower on Grampa, who is instantly cured of his crankiness. Walter Hotenhoffer gets word of Homer's discovery and quickly tries to replicate the flower into a drug, using Grampa as the primary guinea pig. After it turns out it had the side effect of making the users eyes pop out of their sockets, he promised to stop production of the drug.[1]

At some point, Hotenhoffer released a video for hypochondria.edu explaining the side effects of Chillaxodol. At the end of the video, Hotenhoffer said that live is heartless and brutal before he curls into a ball and rolls down a hill into traffic.[2]

Behind the Laughter

Although Hotenhoffer claims to be Augustus Gloop, from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, he could not actually be Gloop, because Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is fictional within the Simpsons' universe.
