Cultural references[edit]
- The title of the episode is a pun to the term "Squad Goals".
- When the kids are guessing what was behind the "Big Hedge", Lewis Clark says it is the place where the Independent Spirit Awards are held.
- The song during the caddying montage is "C.R.E.A.M." ("Cash Rules Everything Around Me") by Wu-Tang Clan.
- Phineas Q. Butterfat's Ice Cream Parlor's workers sing "Tip's in the Jar", a parody of "Carol of the Bells".
- The poster of Vindicators: Crystal War 2: Resurgence in Bart's bedroom is a reference to Avengers: Infinity War.
- Bart says he is going to work for golf Club president Bildorf before that year's "Father-Son Bingo-Bango-Bongo Best-Ball Scramble". Bingo Bango Bongo and Scramble are two variations of golf. A Father-Son annual golf tournament does also exist.
- Lisa's pester.org petitions include "Let Eight-Year-Olds Join The Peace Corps" and "Cast Millie Bobby Brown In Everything."
- Marge uses "S.J.W.s" as an abbreviation for the "Springfield Junipers Wealthy", unknowingly using the common abbreviation for the Social justice warriors. Afterwards, Lisa shows her the other petitions against S.J.W.s created. These include: "Build a Wall on the US-Taliban border" (a reference to the Mexico–United States barrier), "A National Day Without Seatbelts" and "Upgrade The Second Amendment To First".
- Bildorf finds the species of grass Digitaria sanguinalis at his golf course.
- Bart tells Bildorf he mistook him for Pierce Brosnan.
- The song sung by the First Church of the Blessed Mulligan chorus and during the credits is a parody of "I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins.
- The Ten Commandments of Golf are a parody of the biblical Ten Commandments.
- The saint the Italian woman is praying to is former golfer Greg Norman, "The Shark". She asks him to deliver his son's ball onto the green of Pebble Beach's "notorious and evil" 17th hole. This hole is challenging for its length and its unusual shaped green.
- The tattooed guy is a reference to golfer Payne Stewart.
- The AVT slobs vs. the snobs ending is a reference to the movie Caddyshack.
- "You're going to The Show" is a baseball expression meaning you've made it to the Major Leagues.
