The Poetess is a painting by Joan Miró.
History[edit]
The painting was on display at the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts when Homer had to chaperone a group of kids on a school trip. He saw the painting and spent ages studying it and fell in love with the painting. Later, he and Lisa went back to the museum to find it had been shut down and the painting was going to be sold at auction.
Homer went to Gavelby's Auction House where he attempted to bid for The Poetess. The painting was eventually won by Megan Matheson and was to be transported to her house. However, along the way, the painting went missing and Manacek was brought in to find out who stole it.
Eventually, Manacek figured out that multiple people had a part in stealing the painting. Megan Matheson hired the guards identical twins to steal the painting. However, the painting they stole was a fake and Mr. Burns had built an identical Gavelby's right next door, where the real painting got kept. However, this was also a fake as Lisa had switched out the painting for her tote bag which had the painting on. Lisa did this because it was the first thing she and Homer had in common. The painting was then given back to the city and put on display at the Springfield Arena Football Arena.
