The seventeenth season of The Simpsons ran for 22 episodes; the first being "The Bonfire of the Manatees" which aired on September 11, 2005, and the last being "Marge and Homer Turn a Couple Play", on May 21, 2006.

One episode in this season, "The Seemingly Never-Ending Story" won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program (For Programming less than One Hour). At the 34th Annie Awards, episode writer Ian Maxtone-Graham won the award for "Best Writing in an Animated Television Production."[1]Kelsey Grammer won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for his voice portrayal of Sideshow Bob in "The Italian Bob".[2] The DVD and Blu-ray boxset is due in December 2014.[3] and it will also feature Sideshow Bob on the cover.[4]

Some seemingly-innocent protesting ends horribly when the residents of Evergreen Terrace end up with a cemetery behind their back gardens. But Lisa is profoundly moved by the re-installation, since she has a front-row seat from her bedroom window, and it all culminates to her having nightmares and moving in with Homer and Marge.

Kirk and Luann reconcile after some heavy talking at a pox party (don't ask), but there's a difference - they are unknowingly being selfish and ignoring Milhouse, which leaves him down in the dumps. Mischievous as always, him and Bart conjure up a plan that inadvertently leads the parents of both children to split up - again!

A comatose Bart is replaced by a robot after he fails to jump into a pool, but when the two finally meet - it leads to a rivalry - and then the former being dumped in the woods; a duplicitous Burns is at it again when he invites residents of Springfield to his hunting event - then decides to turn in into a survival of the fittest as he hunts them; a witch visits a fancy-dress contest, at which everyone thinks it's a costume, and so the incensed witch recklessly performs spells on everyone - and Maggie unwittingly becomes the one who can revert the incantations.

But some bullying leads to Lisa breaking, however some incongruous support from her brother lifts her spirits again.
