On his first show, Homer and his guests Lenny, Moe and Carl win over the audience by talking about everyday subjects like donuts. Meanwhile, Krusty holds his Bar Mitvah at the Isotope Stadium and invites Mr. T to read from the Torah.

With his new change of heart and holiday spirit, Homer begins doing favors for anyone he can, and in doing so makes Flanders jealous as Homer is Springfield's new king of nice. Flanders and Homer engage in a "nice-off" to earn the town's praise.

To help out, Marge gives the kids verbal anecdotes about historical figures including tales of King Henry VIII, Sacagawea's assistance to the Lewis and Clark Expedition and a very Bart-like Mozart feuding with his sister Salieri.

Bart is heartbroken when Milhouse and his mother move away to Capital City. Desperate to fill Milhouse's shoes, Bart attempts to find a new best friend with no such luck. Later, Bart decides to pay Milhouse a visit and is shocked to see his once meek best friend has reinvented himself. The new Milhouse sports spiked blond hair, is popular and even gives Bart a wedgie in the halls at school. Meanwhile, Homer pretends to be poor to get money off strangers.
