Royce Boss Hogg Lumpkin is the father of Lurleen Lumpkin.

History[edit]

Royce abandoned Lurleen when she was four years old.[1] Aside from a phone call when her musical career took off,[2] Royce apparently had no contact with Lurleen for the next thirty years. When Marge found out that Lurleen was estranged from her father, Marge spent time tracking him down. Royce then went back to the Simpson house with Marge to surprise Lurleen.

When Lurleen heard her father doing a hambone, she was excited to see him again. Lurleen forgave her father and the two made up. They went to a carnival together and got their faces on T-shirts together and their father-daughter relationship made Homer jealous. Royce then joined Lurleen and the Simpsons in singing Lurleen's new song, "Daddy's Back", which was about how happy Lurleen was to have Royce back in her life. However, after the song, Royce left the house and Lurleen.

After leaving Lurleen once more, Royce gave the song "Daddy's Back" to the Dixie Chicks, and turned it into "America's Back", a patriotic song. When Lurleen saw the song being performed on television, she realized that Royce had stolen her song and became depressed. Homer and Marge then convinced Lurleen to confront her father about it. At White Trash Records, Royce was getting the Dixie Chicks to perform a version of "America's Back" for a Chevrolet commercial. When Lurleen arrived to confront him, the Dixie Chicks originally defended Royce until they found out that he had stolen the song from Lurleen. The Dixie Chicks then attacked Royce with their instruments.[1]

Description[edit]

Royce's personal trademark (aside from his dishonesty) is that he does a very good hambone dance. Also, to Homer's envy, Royce has a full head of hair. He also is a heavy whiskey drinker.[1]

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Royce Lumpkin's middle names are the same name as the central antagonist in the TV series The Dukes of Hazzard.
