Difference between revisions of "Forum:Broadening our horizons"

So, for a long time now, I've been thinking that we need to broaden our horizons - in other words, expanding our database to other languages. It'd be a great way to make us even more popular, but it would also, among other things, make Wikia lose some users. So what do you think? Well we either need to get existing ones to move from Wikia, or find users (like FatHomer) who wants to create one from scratch. Wikia have:

A low-active German
An active Spanish
An active Italian
An active Portuguese
Inactive (with 3 articles) Bulgarian
Inactive (with 8 articles) Danish
Inactive (with 21 articles) Finnish
Inactive (with 3 articles) Norwegian
Inactive (with 199 articles) Swedish. (Note: FatHomer is making one of these from scratch)

Hello. I was just surfing the net, visiting random wikis... and well... Oh, well, I saw this foreign wikis project and thought I could help building up one. I can speak Spanish muy bien and I'd be interested in writing spanish articles. The thing is that well, how many articles we have? 8600. Good. Making 8600 articles is a bit... too much. Besides, Spanish Simpsons Wikia is very active and competing with them is gonna be hard. And getting spanish users will be hard too because Wikia is first in Google. --TheHomer 21:07, 23 July 2011 (EDT)

I contacted a user who seemed active at the Italian wiki, but it turns out he just did some small edits and the wiki was inactive. The wiki didn't had an admin and I saw a few spam pages. So the Italian wiki isn't active. FatHomer^Talk 16:22, 27 July 2011 (EDT)
