Behind the Laughter

  • The book is a reference to author Emily Post (1872–1960), who was famous for being an expert in manners and etiquette.
    • Post founded an institute bearing her name which continues to publish books and promote civil behavior in society.
    • "Emily Post's Guide to Etiquette" has become a pop-culture term, even though Post never published a book by that title.
