- The face on the sign at The Tooth Chipper parodies Steeplechase Face, mascot of the historic Steeplechase Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York.

Trivia[edit]
- A deleted scene from this episode shows Principal Skinner and his mother visiting the ring toss booth while Homer and Bart run it. This scene, however, is included in the original broadcast.
- When Marge asks how the Athena was able to sink, it cuts away to a shark ramming the glass causing fractures not unlike the one that doomed the Athena, with Bart and Homer taunting it (by mooning and jiggling the gut, respectively), implying that the Athena sunk because rowdy tourists started taunting some of the wildlife. The scene of the shark attacking the boat is also similar to a scene in Jaws.
Continuity[edit]
- A barrel of "Lil' Lisa Slurry" from "The Old Man and the Lisa" can be seen on the ocean floor during the boat tour.
- In "Bart the Genius", Homer comments to Bart that for generations Simpson men have dreamed of outsmarting someone. In this episode Homer does just that, by outsmarting Cooder.
- The Fortune teller from "Lisa's Wedding" appears.
- Impervo the Painless previously appeared in "Homerpalooza".
Goofs[edit]
- When Bart crashes Hitler's car, There's a fence between the tree and the wrecked vehicle. in the next scene, the fence is gone.
