All Fired Up is a Simpsons Comics story first printed in Simpsons Comics #80.

Plot

Homer comes to Springfield Employment Office and he discusses with Sideshow Mel, Clancy Wiggum, Willie and Patty how they lost their jobs.

  • Homer got fired after using company plutonium to speed up a microwave, setting himself and his coworkers on fire.
  • Sideshow Mel, during rehearsal for the Seltzer-Man sketch, was forced to remove the bone from his hair, which made him gorgeous. He explains that he was sick of girls chasing him, until he saw Marge Simpson's hairstyle and tried to copy it, to no avail. When he asks, Santa's Little Helper, after remembering advice for taking down men more handsome, knocks him down and causing a bone to get in his hair, keeping it upright and making him ignored, much to his relief. However, after being told to switch roles for the sketch, Mel is attacked by fangirls despite it being a closed set. His popularity makes Krusty uncomfortable, and is fired.
  • Patty takes a day off from the DMV to stay at a spa, but her relaxation keeps her from staying focused on the road. The manager threatens to fire Patty if she can't pass a driver's test, and Patty is thus forced to bring Homer along for a quick drive, whose chicken-eating and toenail-clipping (and using Patty's hair to floss his teeth) angers her. With her road rage keeping her focused, she passes the test, but Homer (who was hiding in the same car) accidentally scares the manager causing her to crash into the DMV.
  • Groundskeeper Willie loses his job after being accused by of throwing a large wooden log through Principal Skinner's office window. He is easily proven as the culprit because of many obvious forms of evidence linking to him, including a video tape that he himself recorded, while drunk.
  • Chief Wiggum receives an ice cream vendor's uniform from the cleaners by mistake. This leads to being made fun of by the other policemen and later by the barflies at Moe's. Then just as some men from another ice cream come accusing Wiggum of entering their reserved territory, Snake Jailbird comes in to rob the bar, Wiggum confronts him and when Snake runs off he jumps into the ice cream men's truck to chase after him. He succeeds at stopping Snake but not without wrecking the ice cream truck which leads to the ice cream company suing him for his police station.

Then Mayor Quimby comes in after being impeached, he and the others agree that incompetent workers should be cut a break so he declares today to be "Gross Incompetence Day". When that happens, all unemployed workers are rehired while Springfield Employment Office is put out of business, that is until someone is fired again.
