Homer Simpson bought the book at Gospel for Less when he believed the rapture was coming. The book was 50% off.
Behind the Laughter
The book is a reference to 88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Be in 1988 by Christian writer Edgar C. Whisenant (1932-2001). After Whisenant's predicted 1988 date passed uneventfully, he wrote books making predictions for 1989, 1993 and 1994.
