Welcome Back, Kotter is a TV sitcom that Homer used to watch when he was young.

History

In an episode Gabe Kotter told his class about his uncle, who was the halfback of the family. If you gave him a sandwich, he'd give you half back. The class then laughed at the joke. During this episode, Grampa gave Homer a keychain of the show, which he kept and treasured for many years. Comic Book Guy destroyed the keychain to show Homer what it was like to lose something he loved.
