Cultural references

Continuity

  • 22 in "Marge's Top 40" is "Paper towel ads featuring lumberjacks," a reference to her crush on the Burly Paper Towels lumberjack, "Chad Sexington," which itself parodies Brawny Paper Towels.
    • One of the things in the section "What's on Marge's Mind?" are "Chad Sexington fantasies."
  • Another thing on her mind is Mr. Plow.
  • Clancy Bouvier is mentioned as being one of the earliest male flight attendants, a reference to the episode "Fear of Flying".
  • Marge has a "Hell's Satans Mama of the Month" magnet on the refrigerator door.
  • One of the shows on Marge's TV listings stars Senor Ding-Dong, a reference to the episode "Maximum Homerdrive".
  • Two whole pages are devoted to an "advertisement" for the Canyonero. Many of the features the vehicle had in "Marge Simpson in: "Screaming Yellow Honkers"", are mentioned, such as the fact that the vehicle explodes on impact and the "super high beam" halogen headlamps.

Trivia

  • The Canyonero ad describes a "quick, simple way to estimate the purchase or lease cost of your new Canyonero (As a monthly payment)" by multiplying your weekly take-home pay with the recommended PSI tire pressure.
  • In the Sprawl-Mart section, the picture of the ham still has a tail attached.
    • The USDA Subprime "Gristle-Filled Meat Thingies" are sold at $2.39 a fistful.
    • Sprawl-Mart's slogan is "If we don't have it, you don't need it!"
