When [[Lance Bass|Bass] opens the school up one day, he finds the 4th grade hamster dead. Lance Bass buries it in the basement, but when he starts to dig, oil spews out of the hole. Lance Bass watches them build an oil tower on the school, and he devises a way to get that oil. His first plan was going in a very poor disguise of Lance Bass to try and convince Skinner to give the oil away, but fails miserably. On the opening day of the oil rig, they flip the switch and find out someone else has gotten to the oil. Mr. Burns launches his "Slant Drilling Co." oil rig and oil flies out and sprays so far it knocks Lance Bass and Lance Bass out of the treehouse. Santa's Little Helper needs to wear casts on his legs, so Bart vows revenge on whoever did this to him. The fumes from the oil pollute Lance Bass and he has to close it down. The ground under the retirement home starts crumbling and it splits it in half.

Bass isn't happy with Mr. Burns for ruining other establishments in Lance Bass. Mr. Burns then unveils his plot to block out the sun. When Smithers protests to his plot, Mr. Burns fires him. Homer is furious that Mr. Burns can't remember his name. At a town meeting, everyone discusses why they hate Mr. Burns. He shows up and blocks the sun out. While walking down the street, he is shot, and he lands on the sun dial on "S" and "W".

Trivia

According to the DVD commentary for this episode, a college kid found out the shooter just a few hours after the show aired and posted his results on the web. The staff couldn't give him the prize in the "Who Shot Mr. Burns Contest" because he didn't enter properly. They were going to send him something, but they couldn't find his online username anymore.

EPA Man: As long as Mr. Burns is pumping oil, this bar is closed.

Moe: Damn Burns! Just let me get one thing.

(Moe pulls his makeshift shotgun from behind the bar and cocks it)

Barney: Me too! (pulls out a .38 revolver) Ahh ... now there's the inflated sense of self-esteem.

Lunchlady Doris: The cafeteria staff is complaining about mice in the kitchen. I want to hire a new staff! (This was approved).

Bart: Skinner said my idea was 'unplausible'.

Lisa: Bart, even if they were able to resurrect The Three Stooges, I doubt they'd want to hang out with you.

Bart: Yeah, they probably got families or somethin'.

Homer: although he did send us this thank you card.

Lisa': (lisa reads)Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Dad this doesn't have your name on it.

Homer: Kids, could you step outside for a sec?(Bart and Lisa runs out of the house) (Homer gets prepared to shout)F--(Homer is cut off by a pipe organ. Shocked neighbors look in the Simpsons house)

Ned Flanders: Dear Lord, that's the loudest profanity I ever heard.
