- The story title is a pun on Something Wicked This Way Comes.
- Martin's costume is based on a Dalek from Doctor Who.
- Ralph is dressed as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Later, Bart paraphrases a line from the song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" when he says "Ralphie, with your nose so bright... Won't you guide us home tonight?"
