Mickey Rooney is an American actor who has been in show business since he was a child.

History[edit]

When the Radioactive Man movie began filming in Springfield, Milhouse won the role of Fallout Boy in an open casting call. Milhouse later became burned out with the drudgery and repetition of filming a movie and ran away from the set. The studio sent Mickey Rooney to try to talk him into returning, figuring that a former child star would have the best chance of connecting with Milhouse and persuading him to get back to work. Rooney, riding in a helicopter, caught up to Milhouse in Bart's treehouse and made a very impassioned appeal, first telling Milhouse that his work was "Van Johnson good". Rooney then said that if Milhouse couldn't finish the movie for himself, he should do it for the moviegoing public, the increasingly important foreign markets, and finally for Rooney—"the Mickster". The appeal was in vain, however, as Milhouse adamantly refused to return.

On hearing Milhouse's refusal, Rooney nonchalantly said, "All right, I tried." Then, putting his arm around Bart, Rooney said, "Fortunately, we have a perfectly good Fallout Boy right here." Rooney then turned up on the set costumed as Fallout Boy and repeating the character's "Jiminy jillikers!" catchphrase, apparently trying to convince the director that he could play the part. However, the director announced that they were shutting down production, and the director's assistant said that they were out of money.

As the production company left town, Rooney lectured the assembled townspeople: "Well, I hope you're all satisfied. You bankrupted a bunch of naive movie folks—folks from a Hollywood where values are ... different. They weren't thinking about the money. They just wanted to tell a story, a story about a radioactive man, and you slick small-towners took 'em for all they were worth."

After Rooney finished, his helicopter pilot flew by overhead and hollered to him, "Hurry, Mr. Rooney! We've got a disenchanted little girl in a Jell-O Pudding commercial!" At this, Rooney said, "I could play that", grabbed the helicopter's rope ladder and flew away.[1]

Waylon Smithers, Jr. asked Homer if they could sing a song together, if Homer didn't mind being Mickey Rooney.[2]

A picture of Mickey Rooney was seen on the wall of Springfield Sardi's.[3]

During the song "Sasha is a Massive Success", a picture of Mickey Rooney was seen on the wall.[4]
