History

Bart sings at If you can do the Bartman, you're bad like Michael Jackson.[1]

Bart showed one of his albums, Thriller, to Leon Kompowsky.[2]

When Bart asked Lisa what she thought about the The Itchy & Scratchy Movie she said that she couldn't believe the celebrities who did cameos and mentioned Michael Jackson and Dustin Hoffman, and she told Bart that even though they did not use their real names you could tell it was them. That made Bart even sadder.[3]

A waxwork of Michael Jackson was on the cover of a Wax Museum pamphlet.[4]

He was seen in the Springfield Squidport along with dolls strapped together by wooden poles. Michael Jackson felt sad for Bart and gave him some money. Homer had difficulty in telling which was the real person.[5] A dance by Homer and Barney as children inspired Michael to do the zombie dance.[6]

A look-a-like of him appears singing "Springfield Blows", along with Tommy Lee Jones.[7]

Behind the Laughter

Michael Jackson has not played himself in the series but was a guest star in "Stark Raving Dad" under the name John Jay Smith

In the episode "Bart Sells His Soul", Bart is famously quoted as saying "[souls are] just something they made up to scare kids, like the Boogeyman or Michael Jackson".

Jackson's mention is a reference to his guest appearance in "Stark Raving Dad", under the name John Jay Smith.
