Gavin is a spoiled kid in Bart's age. His only known relatives are his sister Caitlin and his mother, who spoils him, for example by giving him two Bonestorm video games in the episode Marge Be Not Proud. In the same episode, Bart called him "the happiest kid in the world". His next apears in Lisa Gets an A with his mother buying breakfast cereal where he expresses the desire to live with one of his fathers.

According to the DVD commentaries, Gavin is based on the many spoiled children and their mothers in New York's streets.
