Synopsis

"An unearthed corpse opens up a cold case from Springfield in the 1980s… as well as a steamy relationship between young Grampa and Agnes Skinner."

Plot

It's a really hot day in Springfield and when the cooler breaks down at their house, the Simpson family go to the Retirement Castle, a place where old people always complaining about being too cold. There, Grampa blocks the cool air from Homer and he threatens him to put him in a nursing home for veterans. Grampa calls for elder abuse and the police arrives, but for a different reason, they need help in an investigation at Shady Oaks. In there, after digging graves, Chief Wiggum reports finding two bodies in one, with one of them having a business card for "Simpson and O'Donnell Detective Agency", and Grampa reveals he was a private detective.

In 1982, Agnes Skinner showed up at the Simpson and O'Donnell Detective Agency and asked Grampa and Billy O'Donnell to follow her boyfriend, Mr. Burns, as she suspects him of cheating. Due to Grampa having to babysit Homer, Billy proposes to go with Agnes, but Grampa tells them he never got back and he made new cards saying "Simpson and Nobody". Wiggum leaves Grampa alone, but Lisa doesn't wanna stop and uses her forensic kit for traces of blood and find AB-negative on it. At the DMV, with the help of Patty and Selma they find out that Billy was AB-negative.

Lisa takes the folder to Grampa and tells him they found Billy's car where today is the Power Plant and Grampa tells her she's messing with things she should let lie. But Lisa kept insisting, and he started telling more, that he went on searching him but he couldn't find him, or Agnes, till he was tipped by a clerk at Leg Warmers and Nothing Else that he'd find her at the Springfield Squidport. After some romance between the two, she told him what happened that night, that they were following Mr. Burns and Smithers too see what he was up to, and Billy told her to wait in the car, but in the morning she was woken up by Cletus and Billy wasn't back.

Grampa then calls Bart so he can help him sneak out without being seen by the cops, and the plan is for Lisa to cut their tires. They escape and go to Agnes' house. Agnes tells him that the road was covered in something and after having some extra fun Grampa goes to the Burns' manor. In their talk, it's revealed that Billy was killed by Mr. Burns and to hide the truth, Grampa and Burns signed a deal where he'd hire Homer at the plant and he wouldn't have been fired no matter how bad he screwed up, currently a total of 742 times.

At that moment, the family walked up and Homer realizes and thanks Grampa for what he did for him and after some memories of his past mistakes come to mind, Homer embraces Grampa. Before going, Grampa tells Burns he found out his real secret, that he built the power plant with shredded phone books and then he killed him, but Burns tells him that he only paid him to keep secrecy and that he's alive at a tropical island and he gets the confirmation when Burns calls him.

Agnes knew all along and lied to him so he'd have killed Burns because his heart was ugly and she snuck her name into his will. She pulls out a gun but Grampa stops him and gets a kiss from her in return. In the end Homer and Grampa go eat an ice cream together but after a bite Grampa is done, while Lisa goes to the police to ask about the other body in the coffin and it was the business card printer, Harold Baumgartner, which asked to be buried with his wife. Wiggum proposes she enters the force but Lou points out she's too young, then Ralph starts pointing the gun at the people talking and Lisa runs away.
