- The episode name is a reference to the sports comedy film The Longest Yard.
- One of the available players went to Starfleet Academy, a reference to Star Trek. One of the teams making an upcoming pick are the Gotham Rogues, a reference to Gotham City and the Rogues' Gallery from DC Comics.
- The fan riots are a reference to the riots the Philadelphia Eagles fans did after the Super Bowl LII.
