The first attempt to publish the Simpsons comic in Brazil was in 1996 by Sisal Editoria publishing company, in partnership with the Grupo Editorial Vid, of Mexico. The first and second were spelt Simpson Comics instead of Simpsons Comics. It contained a bonus feature of an Interview with Matt Groening. The stories was O Descomunal E Colossal Homer, in which Homer turns to a giant, and O Colecionador, where Homer is alone with only his comic book collection.

The first of 23 editions by Editoria Abril, it was the same as the second release of the issue in the country, this being released in 2003. The stories were Homer, o colosso de Springfield, in which Homer turns to a giant, and O Colecionador, where Homer is alone with only his comic book collection.

The stories were De verschrikkelijke Homer-kolos, in which Homer turns to a giant, and Cool Bart, a story in which Bart is forced to join a group of "Future Offenders" in Prison and ends up in Sideshow Bobs cell.
