After King Homer climbs a large building Mr. Burns informs Smither's that his career was over, he remembers "when Al Jolsen ran amok and climbed the Chrysler Building, after that he couldn't get arrested in this town"
Mr. Burns wanted Waylon Smithers, Jr. to get Al Jolson for a private concert for himself and Marge. Smithers reminded Burns that he was dead last time he asked that, then Burns remembered and told him to get Tom Jones.[2]
