Cultural references

• The show Homer watches "Upscalien In Da House" is a parody of "Template:W:The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "Template:W:ALF" that aired in 1990-1996 and 1986-1990 respectively.
• The shop on TV was I Lost Lucy and shows her tombstone. This is like the 1950s show I Love Lucy created by Lucille Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz and they have misadventures with The Mertzes (played by Vivian Vance and William Frawley). The show ran from 1951-1957.

Trivia

• James Lipton makes his second guest appearance.
• After watching the TV show Homer raves about the various producers and especially praises the "Consulting Producer" and during the opening credits (in the hammock scene) it is shown that Dan Castellaneta (who voices Homer) is the Consulting Producer for the show.
