- After Smithers misses a shot in basketball, Mr. Burns tells him to be a "little more Wilt Chamberlain and a little less Neville Chamberlain.
- Apu can be seen in an audience holding a sign reading "Bhagavad Gita 3:16", referencing Rollen Stewart who used to hold up signs reading "John 3:16" at sporting events. Bhagavad Gita is the name of a Hindu scripture.
