Mr. Zip is a fictional character created by the postal service, originally created to encourage the use of ZIP codes. The legal rights of Mr. Zip are owned by the United States Postal Service.
History
When Itchy and Scratchy studios went bankrupt as a result of being sued by Chester J. Lampwick, Roger Meyers, Jr. was able to get a huge cash settlement from the government by claiming that Mr. Zip was a rip-off of his father's character, Manic Mailman.
