In real life, Siskel began working as a writer for the ''Chicago Tribune'' in the late 60s. In 1975 he teamed with Roger Ebert to host ''Sneak Previews'', and then ''At the Movies'' in 1982. He died suddenly on February 20, 1999, after battling brain cancer, then was replaced by Richard Roeper.
