History[edit]
The Bard's Gallows had previously sold only classic literature. When Bart visited the store in the past, it had just branched out into selling comic books in order to support the owner's habits of cigarettes and espresso. A young Comic Book Guy was a regular customer and pooh-poohed the very notion of comic books, until Bart identified a then-current comic as a classic. Bart's observation spawned CBG's longtime interest and career in comic books.
