Synopsis[edit]
- "When Groundskeeper Willie is kidnapped to Scotland, Bart and the Simpsons follow — only to discover that what awaits is Homer's worst nightmare."
Plot[edit]
At Springfield Elementary School, the boys of the fourth grade class are told that they have to dance with the girls for gym class. The boys are horrified by this because they don't want to get cooties, so Bart runs to the nurse's office to get band-aids so they don't have to directly touch the girls. When Bart hands them out, the kids all start to feel weird. Bart then realizes that he gave out nicotine patches to everyone, and the kids all start rampaging. After the rampage, Bart is given detention, despite his claims that he didn't mean for that to happen. He is sent to help Groundskeeper Willie out in his shack.
At home, Homer and Marge are in bed just looking at social media when Marge gets an invite to a destination wedding. Homer starts ranting about destination weddings and how much he despises them until eventually Marge just accepts the invitation, planning on using the miles they have accumulated to pay for the flights. The next day, Bart is still in detention with Willie when he tells Willie that the only crime he did was not wanting to dance with girls. Willie then opens up to Bart about a girl he loved, Maisie, who broke his heart. Willie then moved to America after this incident. Bart and Willie then started to bond over their dislike of girls and they became friends.
One day, Willie went missing and Bart couldn't him anywhere. Willie then video called Bart, telling him that he needs him. Bart then goes home and convinces Homer and Marge to take everyone to Edinburgh to find Willie. When they arrive, the family travels to the MacWeldon Distillery, which is where Willie was in the video call. They enter the building only to find that there's a party going on, which Willie reveals is being held because he and Maisie are getting married. Willie and Maisie then show a video of their story, revealing that Maisie's family had told her that Willie had been killed by a sheep, which is why she never met up with Willie to run away to America together. It was only when Maisie saw a TikTok video of Bart and Willie that she realized that he was still alive, so she reconnected with him. Willie then ran back to Scotland to get married to her. Bart is upset over this because he thought that he and Willie had a connection over their dislike of girls.
Whilst Homer, Marge and Bart go on wedding events, Lisa explores Edinburgh and goes to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. During the wedding events, Homer gets angry over having to do them, due to his dislike of destination weddings. Marge and Homer then have an argument over this. Later, at a rehearsal dinner, Bart asks Lisa for advice. Lisa tells Bart that Willie has never been happier, so he should let him be happy with Maisie. Meanwhile, Marge gets drunk and decides to make a speech about Homer and how unromantic he is. After the dinner, Willie asks Bart to be the one to lead the dance, and takes him to a group of girls. Bart gets angry at this and complains about how men don't let men down. He then throws the wedding cake out the window, angering Willie and Maisie.
The next day, Marge wakes up with a hangover and finds that Homer isn't in bed as he's mad at Marge, and Marge is still mad at him. At The St. Andrews Golf Club, which is where the wedding is being held, Bart overhears Pa MacWeldon talking to Hamish and Owen about how the wedding is only happening so they can get Willie to use his peat-sniffing ability to make them richer before they cast him aside so Maisie can get a better husband. Bart confronts them about this and is locked in a tower. Meanwhile, Marge gets a video sent to her by Homer of a dolphin and baby gorilla playing together, which reminds her of the two of them. She runs off to find Homer and they make up, before they decide to make love on the golf course. As the wedding is starting, Bart escapes from the tower by tying the sleeping masks he found in the gift bags together into a rope. He stops the wedding and tells Willie that the MacWeldons just wanted to use him. Maisie says that she had no idea that her family planned that and told Willie that she actually did love him. To prove this, Maisie breaks his nose so he can never sniff peat, or smell anything again. The wedding then goes on and Willie and Maisie get married, before going to America together.
