Gorilla the Conqueror is an old black-and-white movie, set approximately in the 1930s, that Homer watched on TV.

History[edit]

Two scenes from the movie were shown. In the first one, Gorilla was rampaging through a city. He picked up a person and a tree; used the tree as a backscratcher; and dropped the tree onto a crowd of people, apparently crushing them to death. The second scene shown was the ending: Gorilla was in the ocean, in a cage with bars, floating out to sea. Homer cried at the ending: "It's so unfair! Just because he's different!"

Gorilla the Conqueror was shown as part of "Big Gorilla Week" on the Million Dollar Movie Channel, and Homer described the movie as "the granddaddy of them all." Homer later watched a newer gorilla movie (in color) that showed a gorilla tap-dancing.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

  • The movie Gorilla the Conqueror is a spoof of the original King Kong (1933).
  • The Million Dollar Movie Channel's "Big Gorilla Week" may be a spoof of The Discovery Channel's Shark Week, which is a week-long series of television programs featuring sharks.
