[[Stephen King]] said of when he was writing the book of the same name that when he told the plot of the book "Under the Dome'' to a friend of his wife, she said "you mean like on the Simpsons?".  He said (on the commentary) that he "watched the show (the series) when someone else had it on" indicating that he didn't dislike it, but that he wasn't enough of a fan to have seen that show, but he was in enough that he just went ahead with the book.  Ironically now most people just assume that it was based on the book.
