Cultural references

• The title is a reference to X-Men from Marvel.
• When Skinner says he is embarrassed to be at the recently heartbroken support group, Comic Book Guy says "Do no worry yourself, young padawan" a reference to the name used for young Jedi in Star Wars.
• Comic Book Guy asks his dates about Star Trek, The Flash and Jabba the Hut.
• When Skinner points out Agnes is his mother Comic Book Guy says "One day, I will say these Words! I Am Your Father!" in which Skinner replies "Nooooo!", a reference to the scene in The Empire Strikes Back
• When the Community Center is collapsing Comic Book Guy says "We must flee from this place like the Capricans from the Cylons" a reference to Battlestar Galatica
• After Patty, Skinner, Kirk and Comic Book Guy save Otto Comic Book Guy says "Truly this is the greatest coming together of heroes since Avengers Comics issue number one".
• When Comic Book Guy is participating in bull running he wears a The Flash suit.
• The treasure hunting scene is a parody of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
• The helicopter that Springfield rent for the stunt is the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier and has Nick Fury and Dum Dum Dugan on board.
• Comic Book Guy says "Like Optimus Prime after his death in Transformers The Movie, I shall return!" to his girlfriend as the helicopter takes off.
