[[Marge Simpson|Marge]] wins two tickets to the ballet when she donates to a telethon. [[Homer Simpson|Homer]] has to promise that he'll show up this time. At work, Homer tries to get a soda by putting his hand in the machine, but he gets stuck. He calls Marge telling her what happened, so she replays sarcasticly. She offers to take [[Ruth Powers]] to go with her. Her and Marge had a good time and decide to go out agian. She and Ruth take a road trip, leaving Homer alone with the kids. Homer decides he can have a night on the town too and hire Lionel Hutz to watch the kids. He meets up with Chief Wiggum and they go driving. While driving, Marge and Ruth get in a car chase with the police. Ruth tells Marge that the car was stolen from her husband. Homer uses a megaphone to talk with Marge and tells her he loves her and he doesn't want her to drive off the chasm up ahead. They realize the chasm is there and they stop, but Homer and Wiggum drive off it, and are saved by a giant pile of garbage.

[[Marge Simpson]] wins a pair of ballet tickets after donating 30 dollars to a telethon that is trying to raise money for publiv televison. [[Homer Simpson| Homer]] promises to go with her, thinking a ballet is something completley different. When Homer learns what a ballet is, he regrets his decision but can't back out of work. At the [[Nuclear Power Plant]], homer tries to sneak a cola out of a vending machine but his arm gets stuck after he grabs onto the can. As he tries to get help, he sticks his hand in another vending machine, getting both arms stuck. He calls [[Marge Simpson| Marge]] to tell her what happened but hse doesn't beleive him. [[Ruth Powers]] drops by to return a power tool, and Marge decides to take her to the ballet.

[[Homer Simpson| Homer]] is told that they would have to saw his arms off, but before they do he is told to let go of the can and he comes free. Marge and Ruth go to a coffee shop instead of going home, and they talk about their relationships. When Marge comes home, she informs Homer that shes going out again next night to the dissaproval of Homer. Homer is ridiculed by [[Bart Simpson| Bart]] and [[Lisa Simpson| Lisa]], and decides to have a night out of his own. He can't find anyone though, and goes out on his own. He gets [[Lionel Hutz]] to babysit his kids, despite his lack of experience. Homer isn't able to have much fun, while Marge has the night of her life. [[Ruth Powers| Ruth]] and [[Marge Simpson| Marge]] go up to the springfield sign, triggering Marge to remember when

They run into Ruth and Marge, and attempted to pull them over because they had a busted tail light. Ruth doesn't though, because the car is stolen and it belong to her ex-husband. Homer thinks Marge has become a criminal because of him not going to the ballet. Ruth turns off the lights of the car which causes Cheif Wiggum and Homer to think it's a ghost car and stop. Ruth drops Marge off at a cafe, but she decides to stick with her in her run from the law. Cheif Wiggum and Homer catch up with them again. They are cornered by police cars two miles from the state line, but drive off road to a canyon. Homer takes a mega=phone and apologizes to Marge and warns her of the canyon, which makes them stop though Homer and Wiggum drive into it, but are saved by a land fill. In a summary at the end, it is revealed that Ruth has the charges dismissed against her, Lionel was glad to get his money after a hectic night, Marge had to pay several cents for a few cans she destroyed, and Homer was sent to a military camp for experimental testing.
