Dick Clark is an American radio and television personality.

History[edit]

Dick Clark was hosting his New Year's Rockin' Eve party in Springfield (rather than the usual Times Square).

Homer was the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant's Y2K compliance officer, and he declared confidently that he repaired every computer there to be Y2K compliant. Unfortunately, Homer forgot to repair his own computer, which created a virus that spread rapidly to every other computer on Earth, including the New Year's computer display.

As the New Year's ball drops down to the display reading "1999", it changes to "1900" rather than "2000". Dick then melts to death (shown to be a robot).
