Penelope was the wife of Odysseus and mother of Telemachus. She appeared in a story from the book Classics for Children.
History[edit]
After Odysseus was gone for many years at the Trojan War and then had his return delayed by Zeus, Penelope had several suitors in her house, seeking her hand in marriage. However, she rejected them all and chose to wait for Odysseus to return. When Odysseus came back and killed the suitors, Penelope asked him to spend some time with her, but Odysseus complained that she was smothering him and went to Moe's instead.
