Ophelia is a character in the Shakespeare play Hamlet. She appeared in a story from the book Classics for Children.

History[edit]

When Ophelia thought Prince Hamlet was acting crazy, she shouted "Nobody out-crazies Ophelia!" and began singing and hollering while she jumped on dinner tables, stepping in people's food and knocking over their drinks. Ophelia finished by leaping out the window and into a pond, where she drowned.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Ophelia appears only in the "Do the Bard, Man" segment of "Tales from the Public Domain", a re-telling of Hamlet with Lisa Simpson cast as Ophelia, Bart as Prince Hamlet, and other Springfieldians as the other characters in the play.
