- The episode title is probably a pun on "You irreplaceable you", a lyric from the song "Embraceable You" by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin.
- The Robopets are a parody of the Paro Therapeutic Robot which has been in production since 2003.
- The Itchy & Scratchy cartoon shown at the beginning of the episode is a parody of Frankenstein.
- Santa's Little Helper wears a Darth Vader mask, causing Homer to bow down to him and call him "Lord Vader".
- Bender from Futurama appears on the cover of an issue of Popular Robotics, as seen on Bart's desk.
- On Ralph's table, a Troll doll is seen.
- The "Sit in there, baby" poster is a parody of the infamous "Hang in there, Baby" posters.
