After Superintendent Chalmers was fired, Bart was walking home from school, saw Chalmers fishing and asked him what Teddy Roosevelt would do. Dejected, Chalmers said that he was no Teddy Roosevelt, nor even Kermit Roosevelt, which shocked Bart.

Behind the Laughter[edit]

Kermit Roosevelt was an outdoorsman and author, like his father. He was also a successful businessman and soldier and fought in both world wars. However, for much of his adult life he struggled with alcoholism and depression, which worsened after his father's death. He eventually committed suicide at age 53, which explains Bart's shock when Chalmers says he doesn't even measure up to Kermit Roosevelt.
