SimpsonT: HAS, not AS

Butterfinger is a popular peanut-butter and chocolate candy bar produced by Nestlé. They are Bart's favorite candy, as he has starred almost every commercials for Butterfinger that have featured The Simpsons since 1988 up through today.

Many of the commercials featured Homer trying to get Bart's Butterfinger, but would be one-upped by Bart each time. Each commercial ended with Bart saying the candy's tagline - "Nobody better lay a finger on my Butterfinger!" (in the late 1990s, this was changed to "Bite My Butterfinger!" and from 2000 to 2001, this was changed to "Nothin' like a Butterfinger!").

Each commercial in Butterfinger Ice Cream Nuggets begins with the announcer saying - "And try new Butterfinger Ice Cream Nuggets" (except the "Maggie's Party" commercial which ended with Bart saying the candy's tagline - "Nobody better lay a finger on my Butterfinger!").

Each commercial in Butterfinger BB's ended with Bart saying the candy's tagline - "Nobody better lay a finger on my Butterfinger!" or the announcer saying "And try new Butterfinger BB's" (in the mid 1990s, a prefix saying "BB's" and the late 1990s have say "Butterfinger BB's").

Each commercial in Butterfinger Ice Cream Bars begins with the announcer saying - "And try new Butterfinger Ice Cream Bars" (except the "Box" commercial if ended with Bart saying the candy's tagline - "Nobody better lay a finger on my Butterfinger!").

Most of these advertisements have been released on The Simpsons DVD sets as bonus features along with other commercials.

For the first time since 2001, The Simpsons and Butterfinger have reunited and formed the "Who Stole Bart's Bar?" contest, inwhich competitors must find, from the list of suspects and clues, who stole Bart's Butterfinger. Prizes include a trip to Los Angeles, a Homer snowboard, and a Bart skateboard. Butterfinger was referenced in Simpsorama when Lisa used them to trap the mutants.

History in the TV series
After the introduction of "Marge's law", the police started to burn all the sugar snacks in a huge bonfire. When they put a Butterfinger onto the bonfire, the fire spits out the Butterfinger and Wiggum said "Butterfingers. Even fire doesn't want them".

When Bart saw the Baby Stink Breath commercial he starred in, he asked Lisa if he was in a commercial as he didn't remember it at all, and started eating a Butterfinger.

When Homer returns from Deuce's Caboose Chili Dogs, he imagines Bart being a Butterfinger.

Non-canon
Deleted scene
When Bart made a trap so Homer got mad, he let him eating a piece of chocolate. The next day, Marge is shopping at a department store, but Homer is tired and can not find a place to sit, so he lies down on a mattress and ends up falling asleep. However, when he wakes up, everybody is staring at him, so he gets up and exclaims his love for the mattress and manages to sell five; he is promptly hired as a mattress salesman.
At the championship, Springfield is against Shelbyville, and is leading 5-2 in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, but Shelbyville has the bases loaded. When their batter hits the ball that could decide the game, it heads towards Bart. He drops an easily caught pop up and repeatedly fails to pick it up, allowing all four runners to score on a walk-off inside the park grand slam, giving Shelbyville the 6-5 victory. The entire crowd turns against Bart and throws beer at him, to the point where Chief Wiggum hurries him in to his police car, only to drive back to the stadium and open the car roof so the crowds can continue to throw beer at him after fleeing the stadium. Bart is totally humiliated and is now the town pariah.
At Homer's new job, he assists Apu Nahasapeemapetilon successfully. Then the Lovejoys approach him with a sex problem, so Homer sells them a new mattress made by Matrimonix. The Lovejoys buy it, but return it to the Simpson home next day, their problem unimproved. As Homer is writing them a refund check, the Lovejoys make out on Homer and Marge's mattress, and trade their new mattress for it. That night, when Homer and Marge are unsuccessfully trying to have sex, Homer admits he traded their mattress away. Also that he spent the money they kept in it on a chain for Elvis. The next day, Timothy and Helen Lovejoy are both singing joyfully and giggling at the Church.

Bart's humiliation goes on as Bill and Marty tell everyone on the radio, and Jimbo, Dolph, and Kearney sung a song about it. The town continues to angrily mock Bart for losing the game. Lisa, feeling remorseful for him, tries to cheer him up by taking to see an old baseball star (Joe La Boot) who dropped a fly ball and still grew up to be rich and famous. Unfortunately, it only makes Bart feel worse after the baseball player learns who he is and makes everybody in the building boo him, causing Bart to break down. The next morning, Springfield awakes to find a deranged Bart has spray-painted "I HATE BART SIMPSON" on everything in town (including a passed-out Barney). While he is painting the message on the water tower (Marge viewing him using glasses), he lets go of the rope that was holding him up in an attempted suicide to everyone's encouragement.

He survives and is revived by Dr. Hibbert. Marge looks outside and sees an angry mob outside chanting "Bart Sucks" over and over. Finally fed up with all the abuse poured onto Bart, she walks out to them and angrily tells them off for mocking Bart's "boo-boo", telling them they should be ashamed of themselves for treating Bart like this. She also says that it was no big deal for a little boy to lose a game, and she backs up her negative assessment of their harsh treatment of Bart by saying that Springfield is the "Meanest City in America", which is true (there's even a gigantic billboard to prove it). Feeling guilty, the entire town apologizes to Bart for hurting him and agrees to restage the game. After 78 tries (some flying into orbit, some stolen by Homer, one where Moe ran naked on the field), Bart catches the ball, winning the game.
Homer and Marge sneak in to the Lovejoys' home to steal back their mattress, but the Lovejoys return and excitedly rush up to bed, and Reverend solves the problem Solomon-style – he cuts the mattress in half diagonally. Homer convinces Marge to drive behind a billboard where they have sex, just as they did on their honeymoon – complete with the same bum watching them.
Sixty years later, Milhouse nearly lets it slip to Bart that the game was faked to make up for his lack of talent, but then takes it back when Bart starts crying, prompting Bart to say that he rules and Milhouse drools. The episode ends with the ghosts of Homer and Marge watching Bart taunt Milhouse and voicing their disappointment, and Homer attempts to talk Marge in to having ghost sex with him, only for Marge to tell him that it is just not the same as when they were alive, though she still moans apparently (what with being a ghost and all).

Airdate
Originally, this episode was to air on May 6, 2007. However, on April 16, the Virginia Tech massacre took place, less than two weeks before the airdate of "Stop, or My Dog Will Shoot!", which prominently featured gunplay in some scenes. Out of sensitivity to the victims of the shootings, Fox moved this episode up in the schedule.
Images
Season 18

sv:The Boys of Bummer

SimpsonT:

Butterfinger is a popular peanut-butter and chocolate candy bar produced by Nestlé. They are Bart's favorite candy, as he as starred almost every commercials for Butterfinger that have featured The Simpsons since 1988 up through today.

After the introduction of "Marge's law", the police started to burn all the sugar snacks in a huge bonfire. He eventually declares himself an enemy of Homer. Meanwhile, Bart buys a factory for 1 dollar and operates it along with Milhouse.}}

Plot
The show opens with a news report about Frank Grimes, an orphan who experienced many hard times in his life, and finally self-educated himself enough to enter the workplace. Mr. Burns sees the newscast and orders Smithers to hire him at the nuclear plant as Executive Vice President. The next day, Burns forgets this decision and gives the job to a courageous dog, and assigns Grimes to a low-level position. Shortly thereafter, Grimes crosses paths with Homer and doubts him. It may have something to do with the fact that Homer is lazy, annoying, and thoroughly unqualified for the job he has, yet he's so well off in life.

Meanwhile, while on a trip to a local government building, Bart wanders away from Marge and ends up buying an abandoned warehouse at a tax auction for a single dollar. He moves right in, and then hires Milhouse to act as a security guard.

Back at the plant, Grimes' dislike for Homer heats up as he furthers witness Homer's ineptitude. When he brings this up to Lenny and Carl, they don't see his point, and disagree with Grimes' opinion of him. When Homer accidentally almost drinks acid, Grimes' knocks the vial out of his hand and ends up wrecking the cafeteria wall, for which he then gets blamed by Mr. Burns and is given a final chance for his job, although a decreased salary. Grimes angrily approaches to Homer, confessing his hatred of him and declaring that they are enemies.

Upon advice from Moe, Homer decides to invite Grimes to dinner at his house to try and be friends. He has Marge prepare a lobster dinner and the family dress in their usual church clothes. However, when Grimes arrives he only gets angrier. This wasn't the life someone like Homer Simpson should have; he sees the house (he describes as a mansion), the two cars, Bart owning a factory (he is not thoroughly informed), Lisa having a Intelligence Quote of 156, his beautiful wife and learns of Homer's unlikely accomplishments (like becoming an astronaut, winning a Grammy, being on tour with the Smashing Pumpkins and being friends with ex-president Ford). Grimes rants that it is inconceivable that such a screw-up could achieve so much, when he worked hard for everything and the only thing he has to show for it is his briefcase, haircut and a tiny apartment between two bowling alleys (which impresses Homer). He says people like him are what is wrong with the country and that if he lived anywhere else he'd have starved long ago.

The next day Marge comforts Homer telling him that Frank doesn't hate him, he's just frustrated that life has always been hard to him while easy for Homer, and tells him if he cleaned up his act a little maybe Frank would be less hostile. After hearing this, Homer decides to clean up his act (in his own way), and appear more professional on the job. Grimes still disapproves him, at break he once more tries to convince Lenny and Carl that Homer is an idiot but once more fails despite pointing out that the number of accidents and meltdown has skyrocketed since Homer got his job. He says he would die a happy man if he could just convince them.

He decides to trick Homer into entering a children's contest "Design Your Own Power Plant" of a flyer by removing areas that show its juvenile theme. Homer decides to participate, unaware that it is for children. Meanwhile, the warehouse Bart owns collapses in the middle of the night, leaving the rats to swarm Moe's tavern.

At the contest, Homer's diorama is a badly-created representation of the current plant, but with fins to improve air resistance and a racing stripe. Mr. Burns, impressed by his effort, awards Homer first prize, beating out Ralph Wiggum and Martin Prince, Jr., the latter whose model was actually generating the power for the auditorium. His plan having backfired, Grimes starts to call everybody in the crowd insane. He finally snaps, and begins to rampage through the plant, imitating Homer as he loses his sanity. Having completely lost his mind, in a last desperate demonstration, he grabs an open conduit and electrocutes himself to death.

At the funeral, Reverend Lovejoy says that Frank liked to be called 'Grimey'. Homer gets the last laugh as he drools and talks in his sleep.

season 8

sv:Homer's Enemy

The strip featured anthropomorphic rabbits and a pair of gay lovers. Groening used these characters to explore a wide range of topics about love, sex, work, and death. His drawings are full of expressions of angst, alienation, self-loathing, and fear of inevitable doom.

Life in Hell started in 1977 as a self-published comic book Groening used to describe life in Los Angeles to his friends. Groening photocopied and distributed it in a small "punk" corner of the record store in which he worked, Licorice Pizza on Sunset Boulevard. Life in Hell debuted as a comic strip in the avant-garde Wet magazine in 1978, to which Groening made his first professional cartoon sale. The first strip, entitled "Forbidden Words", appeared in the September/October issue. Popular in the underground, Life in Hell was picked up by the Los Angeles Reader (an alternative weekly newspaper where Groening also worked as a typesetter, editor, paste-up artist and music critic) in 1980, where it began appearing weekly.

Life in Hell reached the attention of Hollywood producer James L. Brooks, who received one strip — "The Los Angeles Way of Death" from 1982. In 1985, Brooks contacted Groening with the proposition of developing a series of short animated skits, called "bumpers", for The Tracey Ullman Show. Originally, Brooks had wanted Groening to adapt his Life in Hell characters for the show. Fearing the loss of ownership rights to his characters, Groening instead created an entirely new batch of characters, the Simpsons.

External links
Life in Hell characters
* Life in Hell references
*Wikipedialink2

SimpsonT https://simpsonswiki.com/w/index.php?title=Butterfinger&diff=822868 Butterfinger 2018-04-06T00:35:14Z

SimpsonT:

Butterfinger is a popular peanut-butter and chocolate candy bar produced by Nestlé. There have been many commercials for Butterfinger that have featured The Simpsons since 1988 up through today.

It is Homer Simpson's favorite drink and is enthusiastically promoted by Duffman, the company mascot.

Duff was endorsed during the Kennedy/Nixon debates by Kennedy, an idea that was then stolen by Nixon when he also tried to declare his support for 'that particular beer'.

Variations of Duff
Duff's equivalent in Shelbyville is Fudd Beer.

Moe Szyslak once tried to sell a bottle of Swedish Duff, or Düff. After renovating his bar, Moe, for a time, offered a Malaysian beer instead of Duff.

When Bart, Lisa and Selma visit Duff Gardens there are many different types of Duff. Like many other countries, discerning beer-drinkers often characterize popular domestic brews in a pejorative way (American criticize Budweiser, Australians discount Fosters, Victoria Bitter et cetera) as being mass-market swill. Clearly, the character of Homer represents the typical mindless drone who would drink whatever beer was marketed most heavily, regardless of quality, as satire of undiscriminating beer drinkers who routinely purchase "popular" (read: heavily advertised) beer.

The idea for the name of the beer possibly could have come from the play "Landscape" written by Nobel prize-winner Harold Pinter. Landscape is a one act play where the leading characters, Beth and Duff a middle aged couple, sit and talk at a kitchen table. One of the leading topics that is discussed by Duff is his job at the local brewery known for their keg beer. The play itself is a social commentary analyzing the difficulty at which a married couples communicate. In this sense, "Landscape" could also be a possible inspiration for the characterization of Marge and Homer as well.

Former Guns N' Roses/current Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan (who in the early days of Guns N' Roses was known as Duff "The King Of Beers" McKagan) claimed in his autobiography that Duff was named after him, but Simpsons creators call the claim "absurd."

Similarities to Budweiser
Duff has been likened to Budweiser beer.

*Budweiser has used a cartoon spokesperson named "Budman", who is similar to Duff's Duffman.
*Duff is the corporate sponsor to a stadium and an amusement park which parallels Budweiser's corporate parent, Anheuser-Busch with Busch Stadium in St. Louis and Busch Gardens.
*During the Super Bowl in the episode "Lisa the Greek", Duff has an advertisement where Duff Lite and Duff Dry play in the Duff Bowl, which is analogous to Budweiser's Bud Bowl.

See also
*Duff Gardens
*The Seven Duffs
*Fudd Beer
*Duffman

Appearances
References
Reflist

Duff
Food and Drinks

"Frank" "Grimey" Grimes, Sr., commonly referred to by Homer, much to Frank's annoyance, as "Grimey", was an employee at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and the self-declared enemy of Homer Simpson. Frank Grimes was a hard worker, who had to earn everything the hard way. He was also easily frustrated, grumpy, but seemed reasonably tempered.

Biography
Childhood
Frank Grimes was abandoned by his family at the tender age of four, and thus "never got to go to school." He spent the remainder of his childhood working as a delivery boy, presenting gifts to children from wealthy, loving families.

On his eighteenth birthday, Frank Grimes was severely injured when a silo he was in exploded. No information states what he was doing in the silo, nor how it exploded. He is simply seen running toward the silo, which then erupts. His recovery was long and painful.

Frank Grimes worked long and hard consistently, and what few spare moments he had, he used to study science by mail. His long years of toil and suffering appear to have left him rather bitter and excessively resentful.

College
Frank received a degree in nuclear physics from a correspondence college (which a bird attempted to steal from him when it arrived). A week later, he was featured in an episode of "Kent's People", which highlighted his lifelong determination; Mr. Burns saw the report and insisted that Frank be hired to work at the Power Plant as Executive Vice President.

Family
Frank Grimes never married, but he "happened to like hookers." One of them became pregnant and had a son, Frank Grimes, Jr.. When he grew up, he became a mechanic and went by the nickname "Junior".

Job at the Springfield Power Plant
By the time Frank Grimes arrived, Mr. Burns had wanted to give the position to a dog he saw on "Kent's People" having forgotten all about Frank and said that he should be "put somewhere out of the way." His exact role at the plant is unknown, however according to a chart in Burns' office, Grimes had a higher position than Lenny, Carl and Homer.

Enemies
Frank took an instant dislike to Homer, finding him dangerous and idiotic. Strangely enough, Homer took a shine to him, even giving him the nickname "Grimey" (which he thinks Frank liked, when in fact Frank Grimes despised the moniker). After Homer unintentionally blamed Frank for an accident involving spilled acid, he told Homer that they would be mortal enemies from that point on.

Homer tried to patch things up by inviting Frank to dinner at his house. He arranged everything to be perfect (much more than usual), telling the neatly-dressed kids to behave and having Marge cook an exuberant amount of lobsters. Unfortunately, it only served to further enrage Frank as he sees Homer's possessions as satisfying yet undeserving for an incompetent person like him. He has had a wonderful life, a polite family, a genius daughter, a beautiful wife, a son who owned a factory (at the time), a dream home, two cars, could afford lobster for dinner, won a Grammy, toured with rockstars, was friends with Gerald Ford, and had even been to space. While Grimes had to struggle for everything all his life, was working two jobs and all he had was his briefcase, his haircut and an apartment wedged between two bowling alleys. He accused Homer of being a "total fraud" who leeched off hard-working people like him, being overly rewarded for a lifetime of sloth and ignorance while he himself had nothing.

"Grimey" also isn't fond of a heroic dog Mr. Burns told Smithers to collect when he presented him to Mr. Burns. During Frank's discipline by Mr. Burns, the dog was continually barking at him angrily.

Death
Back at work, in an effort to prove that Homer was an undeserving buffoon, Frank tricked him into entering a nuclear power plant model-building contest for boys. When Homer won the contest, Frank had a mental breakdown . He ran amok through the plant, psychotically impersonating Homer, saying he performs all of his actions because "he's Homer Simpson", and ultimately spotted some high-voltage power cables, claiming that he would not need safety gloves to grab them. When Frank does grab them, he gets violently electrocuted.

Frank Grimes was, at least canonically, killed by the wires he had grabbed by electrocution and was buried in Springfield Cemetery. Homer unintentionally managed to make a mockery of the funeral ceremony by falling asleep.

Sometime later, Homer is subject to repeated attempts on his life. It is revealed that these were carried out by Frank Grimes' illegitimate son; Frank Grimes, Jr.. He revealed the previously unknown fact that while his father never married, he did "happen to like hookers", leading the viewer to assume that one of them was his mother. He was trying to avenge his father's death by killing Homer, but ultimately failed and was arrested.

A film was based on Frank Grimes life, entitled Grimey! The Frank Grimes Story.

Physical appearance
Frank has bushy eyebrows, crew-cut black hair, and yellow skin. "Frank" "Grimey" Grimes, Sr., commonly referred to by Homer, much to Frank's annoyance, as "Grimey", was an employee at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and the self-declared enemy of Homer Simpson.

Family
Frank Grimes never married, but he "happened to like hookers." His exact role at the plant is unknown, however according to a chart in Burns' office, Grimes had a higher position than Lenny, Carl and Homer.<ref>"[[C.E.

When Homer won the contest, Frank had a mental breakdown . He ran amok through the plant, psychotically impersonating Homer, and ultimately spotted some high-voltage power cables, claiming that he would not need safety gloves to grab them because “he’s Homer’s Simpson”.

They are most notably Homer Simpson's favourite food. He can not live without them and doesn't like anyone else eating any of his donuts. They usually appear in the show pink-frosted with sprinkles.
History
In "Treehouse of Horror V", Homer changes the past and comes back to an alternate universe where his family is rich and happy, but when Marge does not know what a donut is, Homer goes back to the toaster to travel back through time again. However, when Homer leaves, it starts raining donuts. (Homer often panics when they are out of donuts.) In another Treehouse of Horror episode, Homer sells his soul for one. Marge wins the court case and Homer keeps his soul but his head is turned into a donut by Ned Flanders. In Lisa's Date with Density, Homer tries to fool Apu by putting variations of candy into a donut and trying to pass them off as sprinkles.

Non-canon
Noncanon
*In The Simpsons: Tapped Out, donuts are used to speed up time and build things quicker.
*In "The Simpsons Guy", the Griffin family are impressed upon noticing the donuts at the Kwik-E-Mart (while Stewie is surprised that his family doesn't know what donuts are). Despite the misfortune of their car missing, Apu refuses to give them any. In response, Homer purchases them a box, while taking some for himself.

Trivia
*You can buy Simpsons Donuts in many stores, including Donut King.

Appearances
incomplete
{{scroll|
*Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire
*Homer's Odyssey
*The Crepes of Wrath
*Some Enchanted Evening
*Simpson and Delilah
*Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish
*Bart's Dog Gets an "F"
*Treehouse of Horror II
*Lisa's Pony
*Homer at the Bat
*Homer's Triple Bypass
*Treehouse of Horror IV
*Treehouse of Horror V
*The Springfield Connection
*Treehouse of Horror VI
*King-Size Homer
*The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular
*Homer the Smithers
*Homer's Enemy
*Girly Edition
*Simpson Tide
*Treehouse of Horror XI
*The Computer Wore Menace Shoes
*The Parent Rap
*Sweets and Sour Marge
*The Way We Weren't
*Mobile Homer
*{{ep|G.I.
