Skinner complained about this, saying that he spent more than that on the gas he used to get to the store to buy the twine to tie up the bundles of newspapers. The hippie then says that it sounds like Skinner is working for his car and tells him to simplify.

He took part in the world's tallest human pyramid record attempt.

He had a good track record, until [[Homer]] ran against him, making promises that he could not deliver on. After Homer was fired for encouraging other cities to dump their garbage in the abandoned mine, Patterson got his job back, but he refused to help clean up the town.

Compared to many of Springfield's residents, Ray Patterson is considered to be one of the more 'sane' characters; hard working and committed to his job. When Homer ran against him for his position, he was frustrated by Homer and the town's ignorance towards him. He turned up late for a debate with Homer, claiming that his breaks had been tampered with. The town became shocked, only to start laughing again when Homer joked about his lateness.

He was seen in a park alongside [[Arthur Crandall]], [[Dr. Steve]] and various others when the [[EPA]]'s dome was lowered on Springfield.

== History ==
Over Cobb's protests, Lanley used shoddy materials throughout the monorail construction process in North Haverbrook, which left it with extensive faults in the brakes and wiring. Unsurprisingly, the monorail crashed on its maiden run, injuring many people and destroying North Haverbrook's economy.

[[Marge Simpson]] met Cobb just before the opening of the [[Springfield]] monorail. Suspicious of Lanley, she drove to North Haverbrook to investigate his claim that he had built a monorail there. On arriving, she found the ruins of the North Haverbrook monorail and residents unwilling to talk about the monorail or even admit to its existence. Cobb, however, was willing to talk and filled Marge in on the history of the North Haverbrook monorail. When he heard that the Springfield monorail was about to open, he said, "You just better have a damn good conductor", and the two of them quickly returned to Springfield to try to stop the monorail's grand opening.

They were too late, however, as the Springfield monorail's maiden run was already underway (Cobb apologized for having stopped for a haircut). The brakes had failed and the monorail was speeding out of control. Cobb was able to avert disaster, however, as he advised monorail conductor [[Homer Simpson]] via radio to improvise an anchor to stop the train. Homer used the "M" from the monorail sign and did just that, stopping the monorail without serious injury to the passengers.

== The con ==
The "marks" in Lanley's con scheme were towns with a lot of money. Lanley would visit a town and make a sales pitch for his monorails. After the town bought the monorail, Lanley would open a monorail conductors' training school, which was really a farce and provided very little in the way of real training. At the end of the school, Lanley would either select a random student or the least qualified in the class to be the conductor (his exact decision-making method isn't known).

After the monorail was built and a conductor selected, Lanley would set up a huge opening ceremony with a celebrity presiding, then leave (with the town's money) while everyone's attention was focused on the opening ceremony and the celebrity. The monorail, due to shoddy materials, would typically crash on its first run, causing loss of life and extensive property damage, and leaving the town financially ruined. Meanwhile, Lanley would be living it up on a resort vacation—bought and paid for with the "mark" town's money.

== In Springfield ==
In [[Springfield]], Lyle Lanley interrupted a town meeting when the people were trying to decide how to spend three million dollars the town had collected in fines from [[Mr. Burns]]. The town was on the verge of voting to use the money to repair Main Street when Lanley successfully made his sales pitch for the monorail. At the conductors' training school, Lanley chose [[Homer Simpson]] to be the conductor, seemingly at random as he (Lanley) walked out the door on the last day of class. The monorail opening ceremony featured celebrity guest {{Ch|Leonard Nimoy}}, who wowed the townspeople by joking that the monorail could do at least Warp Five. After the first run started, the monorail's throttle broke and its brakes failed, leaving the monorail speeding out of control. Monorail conductor Homer saved the day, however. He took the "M" from the "Monorail" sign and used it as an improvised anchor, embedding it in a giant metal donut atop a donut shop and stopping the monorail without serious injury to the passengers.

Lanley, meanwhile, boarded a plane for Tahiti, looking forward to his next vacation. His plans went awry, however, when his flight made an unscheduled stop in [[North Haverbrook]], one of his previous monorail "mark" towns. Apparently alerted to Lanley's presence, a crowd of locals boarded the plane and attacked him, at least beating him up as Lanley was heard screaming and the plane was seen rocking back and forth. Lanley's ultimate fate is unknown, but as he has not been heard from since, it is possible that he was killed by the people of North Haverbrook.<ref>"[[Marge vs. the Monorail]]"</ref>

Nixon holds the historical distinctions of being the only President to resign from office and the only person to be elected twice to both the Presidency and Vice Presidency. Nixon's and Burns' golf game probably would have taken place while Nixon was still in office, or shortly after he resigned. Nixon formally resigned from the Presidency on August 9, 1974, after announcing his resignation in a televised speech the evening of August 8. Before that, he was dealing with the {{w|Watergate scandal}}, which led to his resignation. He would certainly have been concerned about going to jail, and quite possibly would have looked forlorn enough to move Burns to let him win at golf. On September 8, Nixon received a full pardon from his successor [[Gerald Ford]], which eliminated the possibility of his going to jail. The same day he was pardoned, Nixon suffered a severe attack of {{w|Phlebitis|phlebitis}}, from which he didn't fully recover—and which probably would have prevented him from playing golf—until early 1975. At any rate, for the remainder of 1974 after his pardon, Nixon wasn't in any condition to go golfing.

Nixon's visit to [[Springfield]] to receive his honorary degree from [[Springfield A&M]] would have to have taken place after his time as President. Regarding the sign on the White House tour: In real life, Nixon was an avid bowler, and spent plenty of time in the White House's alley while he was President. He found that bowling sessions were easy to fit into his work schedule. However, it's unlikely that he ever had back-to-back 300 games.

Nixon was in fact still alive at the time of his appearances (as opposed to being mentioned) on ''The Simpsons'', in "[[Homer Goes to College]]" and "[[Treehouse of Horror IV]]". He died just a few months after those two episodes first aired.

After Nixon's death, [[Matt Groening]] wrote a scathing article in the editorial column of ''[[Simpsons Comics 4]]'' telling kids that Nixon was a crook and not to believe the sanitized eulogies on television that were ubiquitous at the time.

Groening would subsequently turn the disembodied head of Nixon into a recurring character on ''The Simpsons''<nowiki>'</nowiki> sister show ''[[Futurama]]''. The auto theft charges against Ruth were dismissed, but she was later imprisoned for a short time for another offense (not specified). [[Roscoe]], the mill's manager, gave them a tour which Homer enjoyed, until they met the rest of the workers. When Roscoe asked the workers to say hello to Homer and Bart, they all waved and said "Hel-looooooo!" in a sing-song, stereotypically effeminate fashion, and Homer saw that all the workers in the plant were openly homosexual.

Roscoe then pulled a chain which made music play and a disco ball descend from the ceiling, and all the workers started dancing with each other, turning the steel mill into a gay nightclub, called "The Anvil". Roscoe said that after working hard, they played hard.

However, the creators of Malibu Stacy view Lisa's doll as a real threat, and plan to sink Lisa Lionheart.

On the day the doll is officially released, numerous young girls (and Smithers) rush into the toy store at the Springfield Mall to buy Lisa Lionheart. As Lisa and Stacy Levelle watch, a cart of "new" Malibu Stacy dolls with a new hat is wheeled right into the path of the group running for the Lisa display. Lisa appeals to them that it's just the same doll with a new hat, but they all prefer to stick with Malibu Stacy (largely due to a phrase from Smithers, "but she's got a new hat!")... except for one little girl, who leaves with a Lisa Lionheart doll. Lisa remarks that even though they didn't sell out of the dolls, if the doll makes one little girl happy, it'll all be worth it. Stacy agrees, and mutters under her breath, "Yes. Particularly if that little girl happens to pay $46,000 for that doll".

After Grau's death in 1995, Lunchlady Dora was retired out of respect for over 10 years. Due to the delay between recording some episodes and the time they actually air, Grau's voice was included in episodes airing as late as 1997 such as "[[Lisa's Sax]]". Lunchlady Dora then became a silent background character and was mostly been seen in crowds and groups of other faculty members. == Biography ==
Gino was born in the Italian village of [[Salsiccia]] to Bob Terwilliger (a.k.a. Sideshow Bob, who sought a new life as mayor of the village) and [[Francesca Terwilliger]]. When Sideshow Bob's life was ruined, he followed Sideshow Bob and Francesca as they tracked the Simpsons down in Rome. He, along with his mother, helped Bob to try to kill the Simpsons. After [[Krusty]] saves the Simpsons family, he chases a butterfly.

After failing to kill the Simpsons, he and his family fled to England where Bob got a job as a chimney brusher. He and his family tour around England going to Buckingham Palace, Sherlock's museum, and rowing a boat (Gino is seen using a megaphone telling his parents to row). Eventually, Bob, Francesca, and Gino sneak back to the US on a train. Gino and the rest of his family constructed a trap to kill the Simpsons by building a phony barbeque restaurant and constructing a commercial about it. All of this was told by Sideshow Bob.

After Sideshow Bob's relatives hatch an ultimate plan to kill [[Bart Simpson]] but fails, he and his family were caught and thrown into prison.

When he was young, Cecil was ignored by his parents compared to Bob, similar to the rest of his life.<ref>''[[Simpson/Sideshow Sibling Smackdown]]''</ref> Cecil's dream since a child was to become [[Krusty the Clown]]'s sidekick on ''[[The Krusty the Clown Show]]''.<ref name="BFAS">"[[Brother from Another Series]]"</ref> Cecil spent, according to Bob, "four years at clown college", to which Cecil replies, "I'd thank you not to refer to Princeton that way". Krusty and the producers of his show rejected Cecil during his audition. Cecil offered to perform his prepared "pie-in-the-face take" before he was ushered off-stage, but this did not change the producers' minds as Cecil lacked the dignity neccesary to pull the bit off. It was then that Krusty spotted Robert, standing to the side in a fine suit and looking like he genuinly didn't want to be there. Krusty ordered a pie-in-the-face for him, the resulting impact knocking off Robert's top hat and causing his hair to spring up from under it. Krusty hired Robert as his sidekick on the spot. Cecil resented and was jealous of his brother. His birthday is also on May 18, 1973.

=== Springfield Dam plot ===
When Sideshow Bob was released from [[Springfield Penitentiary|prison]], Cecil hired him to work for his company building a new [[Springfield Hydroelectric Dam|hydroelectric dam]] along the river, proudly telling him that he was [[Springfield]]'s "Chief Hydrological and Hydrodynamical Engineer". Cecil's true intentions, however, were to skim money from the dam project's contract, build a poor quality dam, and frame his brother for the resulting destruction (mainly due to his still being sore about Sideshow Bob getting the part of sideshow on Krusty's show). Cecil's plot was discovered by [[Bart Simpson|Bart]] and [[Lisa Simpson]], although they initially thought it was Sideshow Bob who was guilty until Cecil revealed his true colors. Ultimately, he lost the laundered money in a struggle against Bart. However, he does try to succeed in doing "the one thing Bob failed to do," which is of course killing Bart Simpson, albeit in an ironically crude fashion as him throwing Bart off of a cliff, although he hints that he'll lie if anyone asks how he did it. This attempt was foiled, ironically by Sideshow Bob. Cecil wasn't done yet, however, so he decided to both blow up the dam as well as directly kill both Bart and Sideshow Bob by shooting the dynamite stick (Bob had to use the Dynamite as a rope to catch Bart), although Bob and Bart foiled this effort by cutting the detonation charge, nearly killing themselves in the process. Despite Bob's innocence, both brothers were sent to prison, since [[Chief Wiggum]] did not believe that Sideshow Bob was innocent, despite testimonies from Bart, Lisa, himself, and Lou.<ref name="BFAS" />

Cecil then invites Bart to Bob's cremation and Bart decides to go to change the way he acted during Bob's funeral, however it is just a trap and Sideshow Bob is not dead but is alive and came out of his coffin to kill Bart by putting him in it and getting burned. But Bob's family's plan is yet foiled again and he, Cecil, Robert Sr., Francesca, and Bob's mother are all sent to jail, while Bob is stuck in a straight coat, and most of his family is playing poker. Cecil was also forgotten by the Police force for a parole hearing as he was apparently never checked in to prison, as Bob was also arrested at the same time, and so Cecil was released. Cecil rented a hideout. Meanwhile [[Lisa Simpson]] was also being overshadowed by her [[Bart|brother]]. Wanting to be different from Bob, Cecil decided to destroy Lisa for thwarting his plan to destroy the dam. Lisa received a death threat and [[Marge]] thinking that it was from Sideshow Bob, called the jail, where he was still, his parole hearing failing. Cecil got a seat on the School Board and as part of a money saving plan, got Lisa's favorite lesson, music canceled and her saxophone marked as a "dangerous instrument". He also joined the Friends of the Library Committee and got the Library's books replaced with graphic novels. He also threatened Krusty with pictures from his Bangkok vacation, so he would stop showing [[Itchy and Scratchy]], which was replaced with Jeeves and Wooster and gets [[Springfield Elementary School|her school]] permanently closed. Comparing the death threats, Lisa notices the different, yet similar handwriting, just as a wrecking ball smashed through the wall. {{ap|Gary|nerd}}, {{ap|Doug|nerd}} and [[Benjamin]] trace the IP for Lisa, which leads them to the Warehouse District. However, Cecil was already their and caught them, as the nerds where working with Cecil. However, the wrecking ball was from the Construction Workers Union, as Homer ate their lunch. Cecil planned to freeze Bart and Lisa in Liquid Nitrogen, like he had some door-to-door salesman. At that moment however, the [[Springfield Police|police]] arrested Cecil.

Frank Grimes was abandoned by his family at the tender age of four, and thus "never got to go to school." He spent the remainder of his childhood working as a delivery boy, presenting gifts to children from wealthy, loving families.

On his eighteenth birthday, Frank Grimes was severely injured when a silo he was in exploded. No information states what he was doing in the silo, nor how it exploded. He is simply seen running toward the silo, which then erupts. His recovery was long and painful.

Frank Grimes worked long and hard consistently, and what few spare moments he had, he used to study science by mail. His long years of toil and suffering appear to have left him rather bitter and excessively resentful.

Frank received a degree in nuclear physics from a correspondence college (which a bird attempted to steal from him when it arrived). A week later, he was featured in an episode of "Kent's People", which highlighted his lifelong determination; Mr. Burns saw the report and insisted that Frank be hired to work at the Power Plant as Executive Vice President.

Frank took an instant dislike to Homer, finding him dangerous and idiotic. Strangely enough, Homer took a shine to him, even giving him the nickname "Grimey" (which he thinks Frank liked, when in fact Frank Grimes despised the moniker). After Homer unintentionally blamed Frank for an accident involving spilled acid, he told Homer that they would be mortal enemies from that point on.

Homer tried to patch things up by inviting Frank to dinner at his house. He arranged everything to be perfect (much more than usual), telling the neatly-dressed kids to behave and having Marge cook an exuberant amount of lobsters. Unfortunately, it only served to further enrage Frank as he sees Homer's possessions as satisfying yet undeserving for an incompetent person like him. He has had a wonderful life, a polite family, [[Lisa Simpson|a genius daughter]], [[Marge Simpson|a beautiful wife]], [[Homer's Enemy|a son who owned a factory]] (at the time), [[742 Evergreen Terrace|a dream home]], two cars, could afford lobster for dinner, [[Homer's Barbershop Quartet|won a Grammy]], [[Homerpalooza|toured with rockstars]], [[Two Bad Neighbors|was friends with Gerald Ford]], and had even [[Deep Space Homer|been to space]]. While Grimes had to struggle for everything all his life, was working two jobs and all he had was his briefcase, his haircut and an apartment wedged between two bowling alleys. He accused Homer of being a "total fraud" who leeched off hard-working people like him, being overly rewarded for a lifetime of sloth and ignorance while he himself had nothing.

"Grimey" also isn't fond of a heroic dog Mr. Burns told [[Smithers]] to collect when he presented him to Mr. Burns. During Frank's discipline by Mr. Burns, the dog was continually barking at him angrily.

Back at work, in an effort to prove that Homer was an undeserving buffoon, Frank tricked him into entering a nuclear power plant model-building contest for boys. When Homer won the contest, Frank snapped. He ran amok through the plant, psychotically impersonating Homer, and ultimately spotted some high-voltage power cables, claiming that he would not need safety gloves to grab them. When Frank does grab them, he gets violently electrocuted.

Frank Grimes was killed by the wires he had grabbed by electrocution and was buried in Springfield Cemetery. Homer unintentionally managed to make a mockery of the funeral ceremony by falling asleep.

Sometime later, Homer is subject to repeated attempts on his life. It is revealed that these were carried out by Frank Grimes' illegitimate son; [[Frank Grimes, Jr.]]. He revealed the previously unknown fact that while his father never married, he did "happen to like hookers", leading the viewer to assume that one of them was his mother. He was trying to avenge his father's death by killing Homer, but ultimately failed and was arrested.<ref name="[[The Great Louse Detective]]"/>

Monroe first appeared in a TV ad for Dr. Monroe's Family Therapy Centre, which [[Homer]] saw while watching a boxing match at [[Moe's Tavern]]. The ad claimed "family bliss or double your money back" and Homer sold the family TV to pay for therapy. Monroe's treatment consisted of a series of tests, including drawing your worst fear. [[Bart]], [[Lisa]], [[Marge]] and [[Maggie]] drew pictures of Homer, while Homer drew a doodle of an airplane. When the other tests failed, Monroe turned to the shock therapy method: the Simpsons were strapped in chairs with electrodes attached to them and given controls which they could use to shock other family members. However, it quickly got out of hand, starting with Bart zapping Homer before Monroe had a chance to explain the procedure. The Simpsons engaged in a zapping free-for-all, which consumed so much power that the clinic went dark (causing the other patients to flee the building) and the whole town experienced a {{w|Brownout (electricity)|brownout}}. Monroe threw the Simpsons out, first grudgingly honoring the "double your money back" guarantee when Homer reminded him of it. He then told the Simpsons to never tell anyone they were there. == Biography ==
While she has a sweet and calm appearance, Jessica also has a penchant for mischief and chaos, and can cross the line farther than [[Bart Simpson]] himself. Amongst boys smitten by her, she falls right into the role of femme fatale, and isn't afraid to use them.

She went to a boarding school, but was expelled for destroying school property, stealing collection money on Sundays and starting up fights with whomever she could.

She was also Bart's girlfriend for a while. According to Bart's experiences with her, she wasn't afraid to dare him to skate down an extremely steep hill littered with truck accidents, and even pulled the fire alarm during the school day out of pure thrills. He also states that she has an IQ of 108, and that she's "like a Milk Dud, sweet on the outside, but poison on the inside." She went too far, however, when she stole collection money again and pinned it on Bart. Lisa Simpson, however, brought her to justice. After showing the evidence that Jessica is bad, her father doesn't want to believe his daughter is bad and he continues to blame the theft on Bart. Later, Bart lets her take advantage of him

Despite the fact that she's a wicked, misbehaving girl, she does try to get attention from her father, who is seen not giving her a proper upbringing. But her father walks away like a coward rather than being a parent. She also explained that her behavior, in part, is because of her desire for attention for her father.

Helen is the wife of [[Rev. Timothy Lovejoy]] and the mother of [[Jessica Lovejoy]]. She is a judgemental, small-minded, moralistic person and the typical town gossip. She thinks she can win by finding out secrets, and people joining her alliance so that she won't reveal their secrets. She introduces herself as "the gossipy wife of the minister"; when she has nothing else to gossip about, she resorts to telling secrets about her own personal life. She is part of a gang of housewives, containing herself, [[Luann]], [[Agnes Skinner|Agnes]] and ex-members [[Marge]] and [[Maude]] in which they sponsor and invest in companies and boxers.

Her moral convictions look to always defend the interests of the minors, which explains her famous catchphrase, delivered in times of civic crisis (moral or otherwise), "Will someone please think of the children?".

Helen is also openly conservative, and was seen at the Republican Headquarters located at a haunting location.

[[Marge Simpson|Marge]] and Helen have a frenemy relationship. Helen is known to share gossip with Marge, but spreads gossip about Marge as well. On his eighteenth birthday, Frank Grimes was severely injured when a silo he was in exploded. No information states what he was doing in the silo, nor how it exploded. He is simply seen running toward the silo, which then erupts. His recovery was long and painful.

Frank Grimes worked long and hard consistently, and what few spare moments he had, he used to study science by mail. His long years of toil and suffering appear to have left him rather bitter and excessively resentful.

After Homer unintentionally blamed Frank for an accident involving spilled acid, he told Homer that they would be mortal enemies from that point on.

Homer tried to patch things up by inviting Frank to dinner at his house. He arranged everything to be perfect (much more than usual), telling the neatly-dressed kids to behave and having Marge cook an exuberant amount of lobsters. Unfortunately, it only served to further enrage Frank as he sees Homer's possessions as satisfying yet undeserving for an incompetent person like him. He has had a wonderful life, a polite family, [[Lisa Simpson|a genius daughter]], [[Marge Simpson|a beautiful wife]], [[Homer's Enemy|a son who owned a factory]] (at the time), [[742 Evergreen Terrace|a dream home]], two cars, could afford lobster for dinner, [[Homer's Barbershop Quartet|won a Grammy]], [[Homerpalooza|toured with rockstars]], [[Two Bad Neighbors|was friends with Gerald Ford]], and had even [[Deep Space Homer|been to space]]. While Grimes had to struggle for everything all his life, was working two jobs and all he had was his briefcase, his haircut and an apartment wedged between two bowling alleys. He accused Homer of being a "total fraud" who leeched off hard-working people like him, being overly rewarded for a lifetime of sloth and ignorance while he himself had nothing.

"Grimey" also isn't fond of a heroic dog Mr. Burns told [[Smithers]] to collect when he presented him to Mr. Burns. During Frank's discipline by Mr. Burns, the dog was continually barking at him angrily.

Back at work, in an effort to prove that Homer was an undeserving buffoon, Frank tricked him into entering a nuclear power plant model-building contest for boys. When Homer won the contest, Frank snapped. He ran amok through the plant, psychotically impersonating Homer, and ultimately spotted some high-voltage power cables, claiming that he would not need safety gloves to grab them. When Frank does grab them, he gets violently electrocuted.

Frank Grimes was killed by the wires he had grabbed by electrocution and was buried in Springfield Cemetery. Homer unintentionally managed to make a mockery of the funeral ceremony by falling asleep.

Sometime later, Homer is subject to repeated attempts on his life. It is revealed that these were carried out by Frank Grimes' illegitimate son; [[Frank Grimes, Jr.]]. He revealed the previously unknown fact that while his father never married, he did "happen to like hookers", leading the viewer to assume that one of them was his mother. He was trying to avenge his father's death by killing Homer, but ultimately failed and was arrested.<ref name="[[The Great Louse Detective]]"/>

Frank Grimes was abandoned by his family at the tender age of four, and thus "never got to go to school." He spent the remainder of his childhood working as a delivery boy, presenting gifts to children from wealthy, loving families.

On his eighteenth birthday, Frank Grimes was severely injured when a silo he was in exploded. No information states what he was doing in the silo, nor how it exploded. He is simply seen running toward the silo, which then erupts. His recovery was long and painful.

Frank Grimes worked long and hard consistently, and what few spare moments he had, he used to study science by mail. His long years of toil and suffering appear to have left him rather bitter and excessively resentful.

Frank received a degree in nuclear physics from a correspondence college (which a bird attempted to steal from him when it arrived). A week later, he was featured in an episode of "Kent's People", which highlighted his lifelong determination; Mr. Burns saw the report and insisted that Frank be hired to work at the Power Plant as Executive Vice President.

Frank took an instant dislike to Homer, finding him dangerous and idiotic. Strangely enough, Homer took a shine to him, even giving him the nickname "Grimey" (which he thinks Frank liked, when in fact Frank Grimes despised the moniker). After Homer unintentionally blamed Frank for an accident involving spilled acid, he told Homer that they would be mortal enemies from that point on.

Homer tried to patch things up by inviting Frank to dinner at his house. He arranged everything to be perfect (much more than usual), telling the neatly-dressed kids to behave and having Marge cook an exuberant amount of lobsters. Unfortunately, it only served to further enrage Frank as he sees Homer's possessions as satisfying yet undeserving for an incompetent person like him. He has had a wonderful life, a polite family, [[Lisa Simpson|a genius daughter]], [[Marge Simpson|a beautiful wife]], [[Homer's Enemy|a son who owned a factory]] (at the time), [[742 Evergreen Terrace|a dream home]], two cars, could afford lobster for dinner, [[Homer's Barbershop Quartet|won a Grammy]], [[Homerpalooza|toured with rockstars]], [[Two Bad Neighbors|was friends with Gerald Ford]], and had even [[Deep Space Homer|been to space]]. While Grimes had to struggle for everything all his life, was working two jobs and all he had was his briefcase, his haircut and an apartment wedged between two bowling alleys. He accused Homer of being a "total fraud" who leeched off hard-working people like him, being overly rewarded for a lifetime of sloth and ignorance while he himself had nothing.

"Grimey" also isn't fond of a heroic dog Mr. Burns told [[Smithers]] to collect when he presented him to Mr. Burns. During Frank's discipline by Mr. Burns, the dog was continually barking at him angrily.

Back at work, in an effort to prove that Homer was an undeserving buffoon, Frank tricked him into entering a nuclear power plant model-building contest for boys. When Homer won the contest, Frank snapped. He ran amok through the plant, psychotically impersonating Homer, and ultimately spotted some high-voltage power cables, claiming that he would not need safety gloves to grab them. When Frank does grab them, he gets violently electrocuted.

Frank Grimes was killed by the wires he had grabbed by electrocution and was buried in Springfield Cemetery. Homer unintentionally managed to make a mockery of the funeral ceremony by falling asleep.

Sometime later, Homer is subject to repeated attempts on his life. It is revealed that these were carried out by Frank Grimes' illegitimate son; [[Frank Grimes, Jr.]]. He revealed the previously unknown fact that while his father never married, he did "happen to like hookers", leading the viewer to assume that one of them was his mother. He was trying to avenge his father's death by killing Homer, but ultimately failed and was arrested.<ref name="[[The Great Louse Detective]]"/>
