== Hello! ==
Hello, my name is EdBoy3. I am new to Wikisimpsons and I am an admin at a place you may find familiar, Beyblade Wiki. I see you have left due to Wikia changing the skin. I want to move Beyblade Wiki from Wikia to an independent Wiki host like MediaWiki, as you have done with WikiSimpsons. Now we really miss you, you were a great contributor to Beyblade Wiki and we want you to help us move from Wikia. I tried to do it but it was far too complex for me to handle, we need someone like you to please help us move to MediaWiki. Now now I'm not done, I will edit here actively at Wikisimpsons as I do at Beyblade Wiki, if you have seen my edits there. We really want your help for Beyblade Wiki to move and I will edit here if you help us, HazeShot misses you, so can you please help Beyblade Wiki move to MediaWiki, I will owe you big time, like I could have Beyblade Wiki affiliate with you by providing a link on the Main Page. I swear, cross my heart and hope to die. [[User talk:EdBoy3]]

I have provided some links to show you I am not a poser.

:Hi, I didn't help move the wiki over. If you want to move to independence and need help, I would ask [[User:Jake|Jake]] for help. Good to see you are moving away from Wikia although I wasn't a major part of the wiki, just an admin who didn't do a lot of editing. ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 05:13, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

:::I created a wiki on ShoutWiki so I could see if it was easier and much better than installing MediaWiki. Could you tell me which one is better? I see you are an admin there but an admin called, Lynton closed two other ShoutWikis I made about Beyblade Wiki and left me with the Monobook one. Could you turn the Moonbook one to using Monaco please, it would be a big help. One more thing, could you ask Jake if he can help move it would really help, thank you. :) --[[User:EdBoy3|EdBoy3]] 22:11, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

::::If you want Monaco there, you have to ask Jack Phoenix about having Monaco. However, it is only available until August before it becomes a paid feature. == Hello ==

Hello Solar, I'm not sure whether you got my email or not but most of the interaction you have had with "Esycos" or form my email was a hacker and from what I managed to sift through the crap they did, I found some stuff on ShoutWiki, despite that had left. People were pissed that they got some revertible vandalism while I got part of my ''real'' life messed with. I have had to redo a heap of anti-vandalism and spam stuff everywhere I am. Luckily I have two email accounts so they couldn't get into all the places I used. I do hope you understand as I came across all the stuff that happened and was rather pissed off about it. According to a friend of mine who looked into my hack said the IP may have come from Scotland, who I am assuming was Jaymach, that little bitch has tried to mess with me several times so far. I intend to edit here as lately I've had nothing to do but watch tv shows mostly the simpsons. Anyway just thought you should know. [[User:Escyos|Escyos]] 06:58, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

::Well I change passwords frequently now so there no, or very little, chance that it will happen again. Anyway as for your account, I didn't get a database dump, i used the export/import feature in small doses and some things were lost, I just wanted to leave that wiki and move to my independent one as quickly as i could, so as soon as I could I did. Unfortunately I had to disable account creation because of vandals, who only could vandalise by creating obscene and vandalous usernames such as "dislike stargatewiki.org" and "call 04XXXXXXXXX" (which was my number). :::The site will usually be a little slower after the server restarts because it needs to start caching the files. After a few hours, it usually is running at top speed again. I had to restart the server several times yesterday because I was running some upgrades, so I'm really sorry if it caused some slowdown for you guys. -[[User:Jake|Ja]][[User_talk:Jake|ke]] 20:29, 23 June 2011 (UTC)

== Affiliation ==

So are our two sites going to become affiliated once again? [[User:Escyos|Escyos]] 05:25, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

== Hello! ==

== Hello ==

:Yes, I got the email but didn't respond in case it was a trick. Anyway, what happened to my Stargate Wiki account? It just disappeared. ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 17:06, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
So if you want an account I can create one for you. [[User:Escyos|Escyos]] 03:49, 17 June 2011 (UTC)

==Monobook with Color==
Earlier, I asked how I can create a colorful monobook background, then you asked me for the link. Then it's been put in the archives a few hours ago. Here is the link again: http://en.spyro.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

== User votes ==

Should we really allow votes such as Hockeyben's? I mean, he's only made 14 edits. And Ajraddatz has only made 12! And I find Mitchell.friedman hasn't made an edit since last November, bar the edit to vote. Should we really include all these votes?
--[[User:Will k|'''Will k''']] ([[User talk:Will k|'''Talk''']]) 07:34, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
:Yes. I stated in the discussion topic that even if you just read or occasionally edit, their votes will count. ==Wall of Fame==
I obviously missed the discussion for this, but isn't having a wall of fame going a little far? WikiSimpsons is a wiki, where our goal is to provide the best encyclopedia possible. It's not a social networking site. It's one thing to award users for consistant editing over a month, it's another to try to entice editors to stay by having a "hall of fame". That kind of thing should be left for forums. -- [[User:Brian McClure|Brian McClure]] 19:09, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

::::::You're being criticized NOT because anyone has any personal beef with you or because everyone hates Autopedia (which they don't), but because you're constantly whining and pissing in everyone's cornflakes -- which is probably what earned Escyos his seven-day "vacation". Yes, we GET that you're pissed at ShoutWiki because of what's happened to Autopedia, and I think it's entirely understandable that you're pissed at 'em. But that doesn't justify your using our "to move or not to move" discussion as a platform to vent your spleen at ShoutWiki. If you have anything to say that's either constructive or relevant to WikiSimpsons, then have at it! Otherwise, button it. Or at least spend some time thinking about what you've written before you post it. You have shown a pattern (both here and in ShoutWiki's blog) of making one post and then a few minutes later saying something that totally contradicts what you just said. Quite frankly, that makes you look like the village idiot.

I obviously missed the discussion for this, but isn't having a wall of fame going a little far? WikiSimpsons is a wiki, where our goal is to provide the best encyclopedia possible. I obviously missed the discussion for this, but isn't having a wall of fame going a little far? WikiSimpsons is a wiki, where our goal is to provide the best encyclopedia possible. Wikkii doesnt work, cause we'd have to import AP's HUGE database manually. I don't think any of Autopedia have enough technical proficency to host our own site. Wikisimpsons:Vote to move

2011-05-09T21:04:16Z

Hockeyben: /* Oppose the Move (2) */

This is the official vote to move. The discussion is [[Forum:Vote to move to independence|here]]. It is reccommended that you read the whole discussion before voting as it will give you a better idea for what you're voting for.

The vote is a simple yes or no vote. No neutral votes as that will complicate things. This is an important decision to make and should not be made lightly.

If the decision passes, a notice will be left on the wiki for a couple of weeks to say that we have moved. If the decision to move doesn't go through, nothing will change.

All users are welcome to vote, whether you are a frequent editor or just a reader. This will be a big change and should not be taken lightly.

You do not have to explain your vote, that was done in the discussion topic. Just sign under the heading.

The vote will be open for at least a week. I will try and hold it open until every active contributor has voted. However, it will close after two weeks if that doesn't happen.

If the vote doesn't go your way, we hope you choose to stick with the wiki regardless of the outcome. Every contributor helps.

#For the following reasons: being part of a wikifarm with shared logins encourages more users, and thus more content -- rather than a wiki in solitude; ShoutWiki will learn from their recent mistake, and implement more safety measures; the argument concerning search results is invalid -- Wikia will always be larger than one individual wiki, and thus search results for it will be shown above a independent wiki; I feel this vote for independence has been driven by the frustration felt when the website was down, and therefore is just the spark of the moment for the majority of people; I feel that people are simply agreeing with Solar Dragon for the sake of being Little Sir Echoes. --[[User:George|George]] 10:43, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Just a few tips, a shortcut to wikipedia is: <nowiki>[[wikipedia:Wikipedia article name|What text you want displayed]]</nowiki> Also, Bart, Lisa, Homer, Marge and Maggie as well as various other recurring character first names redirect to their article so instead of putting <nowiki>[[Lisa Simpson|Lisa]], just put [[Lisa]]</nowiki> Thanks, ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The Solar Dragon]] ([[User talk:Solar Dragon|Talk]])☆ 16:11, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

:Well, here's the skinny ... I downloaded the saltire from a website YEARS ago, and I have no idea which site it was (after checking some possibilities, I think it no longer exists). The datestamp on the original file is October 16, 2001, which was two computers and several hard drive reformats ago. Since then I've modified it several times for use as a message board avatar, most recently to re-size it for the user image space on Wikisimpsons. Because it wasn't exactly bolted down to start with, I'm inclined to think that the "fairuse" tag applies, but how do I ADD that info to an existing image? : Do you mean the "Image Needed" template? If so, then of course, and in fact, that's an excellent idea. Articles with the "Image Needed" template automatically get placed into an "Articles Needing Images" category, where they'll be more likely to come to the attention of someone on an "image quest" -- that is, looking specificallly to put images in articles that need one. Just make sure you put the template at the very beginning of the article where it will also be noticed by anyone who randomly comes across the article. ==Mark Hamill==
In articles, such as Mark Hamill, the (character) in the title is known as a disambiguation, and, per customs, those should always be in small case, not with capitals. I'm not entirely sure what point you're trying to prove, but it's counterproductive. -- [[User:Brian McClure|Brian McClure]] 13:35, August 1, 2010 (UTC)
:Well, you're the one who has made a big deal out of it, for whatever reason. It's simply a case of grammar. Because "character" is not a noun, it should be spelled lower case. -- [[User:Brian McClure|Brian McClure]] 13:43, August 1, 2010 (UTC)
:{| class="diff"
| class="diff-marker"|
| class="diff-deletedline"|
My understanding of wiki-lingo is that is a disambiguation page is designed as a launch point to refer users to the correct page in the event that two articles could possibly have the same title. If I'm mistaken, I'll stand corrected. No particular "point" is involved; just some article housecleaning regarding celebrities who appear as themselves on the show. Solar made a blog entry titled "Changes to Layout of Articles" which should explain what's going on. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 13:47, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

: I thought about that, but the only individual Duff on whom enough material exists to make a decent stand-alone article is Surly (and maybe Sleazy, but even he would be a bit of a stretch). As they've been portrayed so far, the other Duffs' significance is as a group, which IMO is pretty thin grounds for making individual articles. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 12:02, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

: I did, and I just now got around to checking the credits. The only voice actor other than the regular cast is Kelsey Grammer, who of course voiced Sideshow Bob. My personal suspicion now is that Dan Castellaneta voiced Walt, as Walt sounds a LOT like Gil, and Dan C. voices Gil. We still need word from an official source, though. --[[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 00:51, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
::Ah-uh. Hmmm, thats strange. You've got me thinking that it's Dan too. {{User:Effluvium/sig}} 21:32, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

::::I asked him on Twitter but he hasn't responded and I doubt he will. But it's definitely him. It's his Southern voice, there have been at least two characters in the last few seasons with the same voice, but off the top of my head, it's the same voice as the baseball commentator ("Hall of famer Whitey Ford now on the field trying to plead for, for some kind of sanity") from [[The Twisted World of Marge Simpson]] and that was Hank. It's not Harry (his voice is too low) and it's not Dan (his voice is too high) and if it was a guest star it would have been published. [[User:Gran2|Gran2]] 16:56, August 21, 2010 (UTC)

== Huh? ==

That's not "proper" capitalization. This isn't Germany. That's not the style at Wikipedia or any other wiki, so rather than making this wiki look "sharper" it makes it look dumber. [[User:Gran2|Gran2]] 20:41, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

It seems to me that the section titles are kind of like book titles and should be capitalized accordingly. Using lower-case on the words after the first looks sloppy, IMO. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 20:58, August 20, 2010 (UTC)
:Right, sure. But I repeat: that's not the style used at Wikipedia, Lostpedia or Wookieepedia. Three places where it's a good idea to copy what they do. [[User:Gran2|Gran2]] 21:06, August 20, 2010 (UTC)
:I'll take your word for it based on your experience with Wikipedia. To paraphrase Sideshow Bob, nitpick cheerfully withdrawn. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 21:09, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

== Marge Simpson ==

Hi. Just need some help with judgement - do you think we should have the cover of the Playboy magazine featuring Marge Simpson on her page - after all its a pretty good example of how her character is being used in the real-world and relates well to the "Cultural references" section. Or do you think it'll be a little too risque for the wiki? I, generally, have no problem with the cover, but as Solar has said before some young kids may be reading, you never know! What do you think? Im in two minds... {{User:Effluvium/sig}} 19:19, August 26, 2010 (UTC)

: We already have pictures of Karl kissing Homer, and of Linsday Naegle and Marge kissing, so I'm not overly concerned about the "naughtiness" factor of Marge's Playboy cover. Especially not if you're thinking of using a non-explicit pic AND if you keep it somewhat subtle and make it small (200 pixels max; maybe even smaller). Playboy did run a pic or two showing Marge's breasts in all their glory, and obviously one of '''those''' wouldn't be appropriate. (Too bad, in a way -- I think they made Marge look like a total hottie.) I think the copyright factor is a bigger question. What I would do is look Marge's article up on Wikipedia, see if '''they''' have her Playboy cover pic, and (if it's there) look at the image's information to see how they handled the copyright issues. If the info they provide doesn't make any sense to you, let me know and I'll go have a look. It won't be until the wee hours of the morning (your time), though. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 19:32, August 26, 2010 (UTC)
::Ahh, well, I was a little concerned about the naughtiness part, but I see your point now. And, no, I was only going to upload the Playboy cover - everything is well hidden! - but, I can't seem to find a picture of the Playboy cover anywhere on Wikipedia. I've just had a look now. Could you have a look around? No worries about the late reply, I understand. Thanks again, Mythigator! :) {{User:Effluvium/sig}} 19:38, August 26, 2010 (UTC)
::I also didn't find the image on Wikipedia, so I think we're better off not going there because of copyright issues. It would be worth checking Marge's Wikipedia article periodically to see if they do post it, because it would be a worthy and suitable addition to her article here. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 12:59, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

== Periods ==

Periods don't got inside the quote marks around an episode title. The period is not part of the episode's name. [[User:Gran2|Gran2]] 17:34, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

: It's a UK vs. USA punctuation usage issue. Please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quotation_mark#Punctuation. Then we need to check with Solar or another 'crat as to which should be the standard style here. It seems to me that since the wiki is, IIRC, supposed to be in USA-style English ("color" and not "colour," for example), then USA punctuation usage would be the way to go as well. However, I'm open to correction on either point. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 17:48, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
::Wow, yet another example of how stupid US language use is. I see why the British style is also called logical punctuation and why Wikipedia opts to use that form. I'm sorry, but a full stop is not part of an episode title and it's misleading to say it is. Even if it becomes 'official' policy, then I won't be doing it. It's not really an important issue though, so meh. [[User:Gran2|Gran2]] 18:28, September 17, 2010 (UTC)
::Well, excuuuussseee me for being a Yank and for caring. (end sarcasm) And actually, Wikipedia uses the USA style. Take a closer look. True, though, it's not that big a deal. :::Seems we're '''mostly '''on the same page, then. It's just that I'm so used to tucking periods and commas inside the quotation marks (and gotten my figurative wrist slapped so many times for doing otherwise) that the opposite looks bizarre to me. == Article splits ==

What I saw was a short article with a split tag that said more information could be found on the talk page. The talk page was blank. The main reason for splitting articles on wikis is because they have become too long. What I did would have been perfectly reasonable on any other wiki and would not have been done had I found any apparent explanation on the relevant article, discussion page, or template used.

Perhaps, then, if you intend to split articles for voice actors who play themselves into a person and a character, the split template should give that reason. Wikipedia's Split2 tag allows this. On the "Weird Al" Yankovic page, for example, a template could be used that says:

"It has been suggested that some content from this article or section be split into a separate article titled "Weird Al" Yankovic (character)"

If such a template doesn't already exist, just make one. Then, not only will it be obvious what needs to be done, a random passerby may even actually do it. [[User:Forteblast|Forteblast]] 17:33, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
:Most articles aren't split because they become too long. They are split if there is information that belongs in another page. Yes, we should really improve the template but, hey, you shouldn't go removing maintenance templates without either solving the problem or discussing it on the talk page. ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 17:39, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
We should no longer link to any Wikia wiki, no matter how good it is. We are anti-Wikia and we should not give them any more publicity. Even Effluvium and Kingcjc have come over with us. So, if you notice any links to Wikia, remove them instead of changing them, unless there is an external or ShoutWiki wiki about that subject. : Acknowledged and wilco, but under protest. Your beef is with Wikia management such as Sarah and Sannse, and it strikes me as rather petty to shun the viable user communities with whom we have no quarrel. And if you're referring to the Patrick Stewart link to Memory Alpha, I submit that wiki was around and viable long before it went "dark side" and signed on with Wikia.
:If you take the link down, I won't put it back, but again, I think you are being petty and harsh.
:All that said, though, it's good to see King and Effluv in here. Have they washed their hands of the Wikia mob, then? -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 23:54, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
::I know what you are saying but Wikia screwed us over big time. It is only because of Wikia we moved here. If the wiki moved away then we should link to them. Otherwise, no. Hi, now that we have finished the move and are very much back into the swing of things here, I was wondering when you would be carrying on with the project. Since you are like the main member of it and do these better than anyone else, I asked you. It is just that doing up all the guest star articles, i noticed the articles that need to be split so I just skip them. There are quite a few in Season 3 though. Thanks, ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 19:06, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

== Thumbnails into galleries? ==

Well, I am continuing to produce the season articles where you can assist like you did before. Maybe the thumbnails need to be sorted as they vary in size and affect the tables. If not, then perhaps they should no longer exist as thumbnails and become as a gallery in the articles?--[[User:NGMan62|NGMan62]] 23:52, 22 December 2010 (UTC)NGMan62
:I almost hate to say it because it's probably a LOT more work, but those episode images look a lot better as thumbnails than they would as a gallery at the end of the page. Maybe you could manually re-size the images to fit the spaces where they go in the tables? Sorry I don't have a suggestion I'm more sure about, but I've never tried building a table as complicated as the season summaries -- let alone one with pictures in it. Tables like the ones in [[Bart's Prank Calls]], [[Earthland Realms]], and the list of spells in [[Treehouse of Horror XII/References]] are more my speed. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 03:24, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
::Very well, then. I have another suggestion, which is to perhaps replace them with promotional images as they have been particular used on later episodes?
:::That sounds OK. But my main point was that the images look better when they're on the same area of the table as the episode they go with, rather than having them all collected in a gallery. -- [[User:Mythigator|Mythigator]] 20:06, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

==Re:Quick Category Question==
That might be a question we as a community need to decide, but I think generally there's over-categorization here. When an article is part of the sub-category, then it IS part of the parent category, so I see no need to add both. However, others feel differently so it might be worth seeking other opinions. -- [[User:Brian McClure|Brian McClure]] 16:16, 24 December 2010 (UTC)
:I feel that we should add say all characters to the Characters category for instance instead of just sub categories. Forum:Vote to move to independence

2011-05-02T23:00:26Z

Hockeyben: /* Oppose */

{{Forumheader|Wiki talk}}

After the disaster of the problems with ShoutWiki, I know many of you want to move away elsewhere, mainly to independence. We will not be moving to another host for sure so it's ShoutWiki or independence. I am writing a list of positives and negatives towards ShoutWiki and Independence.

== ShoutWiki ==
=== Positives ===
*Lots of staff members.
*Staff are very helpful.
*A range of wikis that all are connected due to being a host site.

=== Negatives ===
*Many wikis will be moving away, thus lowering ShoutWiki's Google ranking due to less pages.
*Simpsons Fanon is still broken.

=== Neutral Points ===
*ShoutWiki will probably not make the same mistakes twice. They will be putting forward many things to stop this from happening again.
*They are also making a tool for bureaucrats to make their own database dumps, meaning we won't lose as much next time if this does happen.

== Independence ==
=== Positives ===
*We get our own domain name (probably simpsonswiki.net)
*Admins get our own email addresses (username@simpsonswiki.net)
*Google Analytics for advanced stat tracking.
*Our forum will also be moved to its own subdomain.
*Hosted by a member of NIWA may mean more members, etc.
**Many users also prefer independent wikis, as seen when SmashWiki moved from Wikia and gained a lot of new users.
*We will most probably get Vector (I will need to double check this).

=== Negatives ===
*Not as well linked, since we are not hosted, there will be no host linking to us.

== Discussion ==
I have two questions: Would moving to an independent site cost anything, and who's to say that we won't have database problems if we move? -- [[User:Brian McClure|Brian McClure]] 07:28, 2 May 2011 (MSD)
:No. The person who came to me, Jake, is willing to pay all costs towards the wiki. And no one is promising that we won't have any problems there either. We could have problems any where we go. ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 13:06, 2 May 2011 (MSD)
::Got this from him:

::"Since we last spoke, Nookipedia has moved over to its own virtual private server with considerable improvements in performance and MySQL stability. Because it's literally the only site hosted on that server, all of the server resources would be shared between Wikisimpsons and Nookipedia. Obviously I can't guarantee 100% uptime, but we haven't had a single problem since the move."
::☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 01:21, 3 May 2011 (MSD)

== Vote ==
The number of votes won't be everything. The strength of the argument will decide the move.
=== Support ===
# I support for the benefits of moving to independence. I have no problem with ShoutWiki - I'm moving a wiki here - although we have a good opportunity which should benefit us. There is something about an independent wiki which is much more appealing. The domains (especially for the forums) are a lot more convenient. I think we should take advantage of this opportunity. --[[User:Cook879|Cook879]] 01:23, 2 May 2011 (MSD)
# I support your move, I moved my wiki to independent and its so much better, if theres a problem you can actually see whats wrong and fix it instead of waiting two weeks before a staff members posts a vague blog on whats going on. Certain things have to be learnt to do (such as mediawiki extensions etc) but there is heaps of info on how to do all that. [[User:Escyos|Escyos]] 07:02, 2 May 2011 (MSD)
::If you know how to contact staff (IRC is usually best) then they can fix problems pretty quickly. The crash was pretty bad but now that ShoutWiki is back up, once speeds are back to normal, ShoutWiki will be business as usual. Sure, independence is great if you know what you're doing. We will, however, have someone who does know what he's doing looking after us if we do move. We're being hosted by someone else, the same person who hosts Animal Crossing Wiki on NIWA. ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 14:44, 2 May 2011 (MSD)

=== Neutral ===
#ShoutWiki has been very good to us. They are a great host and have the potential to be better than Wikia (I really believe that). They need good wikis to help them achieve this goal. However, I have to think about the wiki. I feel that Wikisimpsons will gain a lot if we move. The positives show that. I am at a total loss right now. I don't know whether I want to follow my heart and stay with ShoutWiki or follow my head and move to independence. I need the rest of the community to sway my view to one side and I will possibly be making a final decision based on the feedback. The number of votes won't count. ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 22:02, 1 May 2011 (MSD)
#'''Supporty-Neutral''' SW is a very good host who have lots of potential. They have good tech. staff and are a lot better than most wiki farms I know, especially that one that should not be named. However Wikisimpsons will gain from moving, such as more users and higher rankings. I really hope that Shout Wiki doesn't go down, but I'm afraid we cannot afford another outage like last time. [[User:Doh5678|'''Doh''']][[User talk:Doh5678|'''5678''']] 23:35, 1 May 2011 (MSD)
#I don't really know. ShoutWiki is a very good host (if you forget about the crash that has just finished anyway). I've always liked the idea of moving to our own domain, but nobody will probably find us. It's very difficult for an independent wiki to be found if there are no wikis that link to it. Of course, we could look for affiliates, but it would still be hard for people to find us. ShoutWiki is good now, every page is back, nothing wrong at the moment. I think we shouldn't move. But because of the positive stuff about moving, I don't really know what to do. {{User:TheHomer/sig}} 01:41, 2 May 2011 (MSD)
##So we would have a new customized skin if me move? Well, that's another positive. But ShoutWiki has been very good to us. Please guys, this would be our third move. Every move for any wiki means problems (incorrectly moved images, extensions that would have to be removed because they wouldn't work). Besides, we will wait for the move to be complete, and we shouldn't lose any more time. We should start writing articles and go on improving the wiki already. Everything back to normal. {{User:TheHomer/sig}} 02:23, 3 May 2011 (MSD)

:::There is another Simpsons Wiki at Wikia and one here. If you move, that creates three Simpson wikis. Then it becomes ridiculous because all three wikis are actually the same. The visitor will say: "Should I go to Simpsons Wiki, Wikisimpsons, or ShoutWiki Simpsons?". I also don't recommend it because despite the fact that staff has cost us over 5 weeks of editing, they still offer us useful features along with the new Vector skin they released and of course, great customer support. If this breakdown happens again, then I would recommend moving then. --[[User:Silver Knight|Silver Knight]] 13:41, 2 May 2011 (MSD)

::::There are several counter-arguments to that. First point: ShoutWiki staff will close down the wiki at request. They are not Wikia. Also, if we were to move, I would look into making our own custom skin, not Monobook, Monaco or Vector. It would be totally unique. There are many extentions out there which we can install. Many features as you would call them. ☆[[User:Solar Dragon|The]] [[User talk:Solar Dragon|Solar]] [[Special:Contributions/Solar Dragon|Dragon]]☆ 13:46, 2 May 2011 (MSD)
